Monica Sementilli Sentenced to Life in Prison |
|
LOS ANGELESâMonica Sementilli was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her husband, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced on Monday. Sementilli received a life sentence without any possibility of parole for her role in orchestrating the 2017 murder of her husband, hairdresser Fabio Sementilli. âMonica Sementilli betrayed the person who loved and trusted her most,â said Nathan J. Hochman, the district attorney, in the press announcement. âHer calculated scheme to profit from her husbandâs death cost a kind and talented man his life and devastated a family," he said. "Todayâs sentence ensures that she will spend the rest of her life behind barsâwhere she can no longer deceive or destroy lives. Justice caught up with her.â After a 10-week-long trial, she was found guilty of one count of murder with special circumstance allegations to kill for financial gain, AVN reported in April. Robert Baker and Sementilli were both arrested in January 2017 for murder. Baker was a former adult performer and talent manager who had an affair with Sementilli. AVN previously reported that Baker entered a plea of no contest and testified that his former lover had no role in the murder. âThis was a complex, years-long investigation and prosecution,â Hochman added. âThanks to the relentless work of our prosecutorsâparticularly Deputy District Attorneys Beth Silverman and Heather Steggellâand law enforcement partners, the truth emerged and justice was served for Fabio and all who loved him.â
