Adult Stars Launch Ad Campaign Against Project 2025âs Ban on Porn |
LOS ANGELESâAs detailed in The New York Times, a new $100,000 ad campaign will appear in front of viewers of adult content websites in swing statesâPennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevadaâwarning them of Project 2025âs promised ban on porn and plan to imprison those who produce it. The adverts are being led by some of the biggest names in adult entertainment, with a combined following of over 10 million on social media, in conjunction with Artists United for Change. The adverts will direct people to HandsOffMyPorn.com, where they can view (safe for work) video testimonials from stars like Holly Randall and Siri Dahl about the dangers of Project 2025, as well as background information on the proposed ban. Additionally, individuals can register to vote, verify their voter registration status, and more. The demographics of porn consumers who will see these ads could make a difference in the 2024 election. Men are much more likely to watch online pornography than women, and according to the Survey Center on American Life, younger men are the biggest consumers: among men aged 18-29, an impressive 44 percent had watched porn within the past month, while an even higher percentage, 57 percent, observed among men aged 30-49. The Washington Post reported that the Trump campaign is making a concerted effort to get these very same male voters. Those behind the ad campaign note that these voters may see their rights and freedoms curtailed as a result of Project 2025âs promise to ban and criminalize pornography. âI have been in this industry for over 25 years and have witnessed many attacks on our industry, but Project 2025âs ban on pornography is the most extreme proposal I have ever seen, and voters have to take that threat seriously,â said Randall. âWe cannot simply rely on precedent that consuming pornography is legal and has been legal for a long time. If the last few years have shown us anything, itâs that anything can happen, and we canât rest on our laurels. Not only are makers of adult content in danger, so is everyone who watches it.â âIn my 12 years since I started my career in the adult film industry, Iâve seen a lot of political attacks on our industry,â said Dahl. âBut Project 2025âs plan to make pornography illegal and throw all the pornographers in jail is really the worst example yet. This plan of Project 2025âs is an egregious attack on your right to privacy, and not to mention itâs just purely unconstitutional.â âThe adult industry might not be everyoneâs cup of tea,â said director/performer Siouxsie Q. âBut for me and countless others, it has been our path to the American Dream. Unfortunately, the Republican Party and the authors of Project 2025 plan to criminalize every aspect of our industry, including adult consumers like those seeing these ads. Iâm deeply aware that an attack like this represents a terrifying erosion of free speech in America.â "Iâm deeply concerned about how Project 2025 could impact not just our personal freedoms but also the rights of sex workers and the adult film industry as a whole,â said performer Cherie Deville. âThese policies have the potential to undermine our work, our rights, and our ability to create content safely and freely. This is about protecting our livelihoods and ensuring that sex workers arenât pushed further into the margins. Itâs more important than ever to stay informed and vote. Our voices matter, and we must stand up for our rights and the future of our industry by casting our ballots." âThis will devastate our industry, its workers, and our fans. We must fight back against this ultra-conservative agenda that is rooted in religious conservatism, fearmongering, and the suppression of womenâs rights,â said director/performer Casey Calvert. âDon't let these zealots destroy my career and your right to enjoy adult entertainment. Join me and visit HandsOffMyPorn.com to read more about Project 2025, and vote!â "This is a direct quote from Project 2025: 'Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned.' It is not a theat to the adult industry, it is a promise," said veteran star Abigail Mac. "If we do not make our voices heard and vote, there will be no industry. Performers, crew and fans alike need to come together more than ever before. We can fight this together. If we do nothing, we will surely lose everything!" Other adult stars backing the campaign include Monique Alexander, Alison Rey, Kimmy Kimm, Bailey Rayne, Karla Lane, Seth Gamble, Freya Parker, Little Puck, Scarlett Skies, Brittany Andrews, and Tommy Pistol. The group said an expansion of the ad buy is likely and will be announced soon.
