Pineapple to Launch Support Group for Survivors of Suicide |
LOS ANGELESâPineapple Support, the adult industryâs leading mental health nonprofit, will host a free, online support group for performers who have been affected by or are survivors of suicide. The six-week âSurvivors of Suicideâ support group will be led by Pineapple Support therapist Jaimi Martin and will begin on Tuesday, September 10th, at 9 a.m. PST. âGrieving is difficult and grieving the loss of someone who died by suicide is that more complicated,â says Pineapple Support therapist Jaimi Martin. âBut you donât have to grieve alone. In this 6-week support group, you will receive compassionate support while you work through this grief process, have space to discuss the complexities of loss by suicide, and learn strategies to cope.â Pineapple Support was founded by performer Leya Tanit in 2018, after a string of losses in the adult industry from depression and other mental illnesses. The organization, a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in the United States, has connected over 14,000 adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost therapy, counseling, and emotional support. âWhen youâve lost someone to suicide, itâs vital to have community to help process what has happened,â says Tanit. âPineapple was founded in the wake of profound losses like this, and I know how important it is to bring survivors together to heal. Weâre deeply grateful to LiveJasmin for ensuring we can provide this crucial space for performers to connect.â The six-week âSurvivors of Suicideâ support group begins on Tuesday, September 10th, at 9 a.m. PST (Noon EST / 6 p.m. CET). Sessions will last for around one hour and will take place online each Tuesday at the same time, until October 15th.
