Mr. Skin Marks 25th Anniversary With Celeb Nudity Retrospective |
CHICAGOâTo coincide with its 25th anniversary, celebrity nudity website MrSkin.com has selected the 20 Most Iconic Moments in Celeb Nudity. As part of the celebtration, Mr. Skin also plans to host a series of bashes in several major U.S. cities this summer. Featuring everything from Kate Winsletâs PG-13 nudity in Titanic to Marilyn Monroe posing for Playboy and Kim Kardashianâs sex tape, the top 20 retrospective was culled from Mr. Skin's archive cataloging celebrity nudity all the way back to 1915. While it does take an entire team of people to keep the site running, it was founder Jim McBride who managed to turn his lifelong passion for celebrity skin and his savant-like retention of trivia about nude scenesâincluding what time the nude scenes occur in a filmâinto a career. That Mr. Skin is now celebrating its 25th anniversary in an internet landscape that has seen the demise of nearly every website launched around that same time is a testament to the power of McBrideâs dream and his unyielding commitment to creating a quality product. The siteâs big breakthrough came when McBride appeared for the first of many times on The Howard Stern Show in March 2000. This helped to propel the site into the stratosphere as Sternâs core audience were the exact kinds of men Mr. Skin was courting. It was an appearance on Sternâs show several years later that would bring him to the attention of filmmaker Judd Apatow, who reached out to McBride to use his websiteâs core concept as a plot point in his 2007 summer blockbuster Knocked Up. As the site approaches its 25th anniversary, it is home to more than 30,000 actress bios, 30,000 movie and TV show reviews, and over 200,000 pictures and clips. The site is an internet mainstay, a resource as important to film aficionados as IMDb.com, and one that continues to grow. See Mr. Skin's 20 Most Iconic Moments in Celeb Nudity here.
