Pineapple Support to Host Support Group for Recent Losses Tonight |
CHATSWORTH, Calif.âAdult industry mental health nonprofit Pineapple Support will host a free, online support group this evening to help people process recent losses within the industry. The crisis support group will be led by Pineapple Support therapist Tess Kilwein and will begin at 6 p.m. ET. "Recent tragic events have sparked important conversations about substance use and potential harm within the adult entertainment industry," Pineapple Support founder and CEO Leya Tanit said. "In response, we are hosting an emergency meeting to offer a safe place to express the emotions people may be feeling at the moment and also explore harm reduction strategies for those who use substances or know people who do." Tanit founded Pineapple Support in 2018, after a string of losses in the adult industry from depression and other mental illnesses. The organization, a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in the United States, has connected over 12,000 adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost therapy, counseling and emotional support. âWe wanted to react quickly by organising this specialised group at short notice,â Tanit continued. âPineapple Support is here for you, whether you want to talk through grief or address larger issues. Now is the time to reach out to those around us and provide support to others where we can. We are stronger together.â The crisis support group will last for around one hour.
