Red State, Porn State: Conservative States Dominate 2023 for Googling Porn |
Last year when it came to Googling “porn” in the United States, the red states won by a landslide. With 2023 officially in the books, we thought we’d look at some Google data to see which state was spending the most time thinking about the porn industry. Turns out this was one political contest that wasn’t even close, with red states taking 8 of the top 10 rankings. Of the two blue states to make the grade, one of them, Nevada, appears to be trending red as the 2024 election season approaches — so are they even REALLY a blue state? Interesting to note was red faithful Utah’s position at #50, seemingly showing lower interest in searching for porn than everyone but the District of Columbia. Back in the days of hotel PPV porn, Utah was notorious for leading the pack — so it’s notable to see them down there at the bottom in 2023. They did rank #1 in the nation though for “porn vpn” searches, so perhaps all that historical lust is just getting credited to another state now, like maybe New Mexico? Lusty Louisiana made the Top 10 despite its politicians leading the charge on “age verification” legislation in America. Perhaps then it’s no surprise that Louisiana was also in the Top 5 for search interest in porn VPNs. Where did your state rank? See the full list below and note the “Interest Rating” on the right shows each state’s relative interest in searching Google for ‘porn’ compared against the highest achiever for this term, which in 2023 was West Virginia. Wyoming and Tennessee, also red states, made a valiant effort coming in at ranks 11 and 12. If they try a little harder in 2024 they might make the winners table next round. |
