LOS ANGELESâMark Kernes, a former editor of Adult Video News (AVN) has been named a finalist for the Los Angeles Press Clubâs National Arts & Entertainment Journalism (NAEJ) Award in the Non-Fiction Book category. The book, the veteran journalistâs first, is a collection of articles he wrote for AVN and its website AVN.com which deal with the various ways that religion, not just Christianity, affect peopleâs sex lives, with an emphasis on how they target the adult entertainment industry. Included are reports on Kernesâ experiences at various anti-porn conferences and anti-porn congressional hearings, as well as efforts to pass anti-adult legislation and more. Each article is prefaced by a new paragraph updating readers on the issues and the effects the article may have had since it was first written. Kernes has been a journalist for 35 years, covering legal issues for AVN for much of that time. The book may be purchased from Barnes & Noble Online and Amazon. Kernes may be contacted at [email protected].
