Coming Together: Siri Dahl Talks Adult Time Ambassadorship |
A version of this feature appears in the August issue of AVN magazine. Click here for the digital edition. LOS ANGELESâSiri tells AVN that representing Adult Time as a brand ambassador is âa dream come true." As one of the studioâs most versatile performers, Siri has shined in several collaborations with Chief Creative Office Bree Mills and Adult Time directors such as Michael Vegas, Siouxsie Q and Stella Smut during her ambassadorship. âI always knew I liked the idea of having a closer working relationship with a studio, but when I came out of retirement in 2020, the idea of a traditional âcontract starâ wasnât really a thing anymore,â Dahl explains. âSo when Adult Time approached me about being a Brand Ambassador, it immediately felt like the right fit. In this era ruled by content creators, Adult Time recognizes that performers are our own brandsâand the Ambassadorship is all about that collaboration, in my case between the Siri brand and the Adult Time brand.â Siri's recent outing for Adult Time's acclaimed "Ooposie!" series underscored that theme. During pre-production Dahl described the collab as âa cute, queer free-for-all." âAnd it was inspired by my love of bright colors, carefree summertime vibes, and a celebration of the queer community which Iâm so thrilled to see the mainstream porn industry embracing more and more every year,â Dahl said. The Adult Time Original Series features âoutrageous situations and high-energy sexâ with a lighthearted tone. It has become one of the studioâs most popular lines in the past year, so itâs only fitting that the seasoned performer counts her âOopsie!â scene with Ariel Demure among her best. âMaking the trailer/intro portion of the scene had us all rolling on the floor laughing as we were shooting it that day," she says. âI think we must have done seven or eight spit-takes of me with the soda cup! And the sex was insanely hot, too (obviously)!â The personable star, who did her first professional scene in February 2012 and now has more than 350 credits, is in the midst of her second year as an Adult Time Ambassador. Dahl says that Adult Timeâs commitment to empowering talent aligns with her values and sensibilities. âThe emphasis on performersâ individuality and comfort is a prominent shared value that we have. Early on when I met Bree Mills, we had so many engaging and enlightening conversations; I immediately felt a connection with her vision for the studio,â Siri says. âI also love the creativity Adult Time's series bring to the table, as well as the people I get to work with, from the folks at corporate to the directors, producers and crew members.â Siri points to the bi threesome she did with Wolf Hudson and Johnny Hill for The Yes Listâa set in which she was accompanied by a documentary crew from Netflixâas another example of feeling empowered on an Adult Time shoot. âAnd Iâm doubly proud that some of behind-the-scenes footage from that day made it into the Netflix documentary Money Shot that came out recently,â she continues. â... It really helped show the reality of the porn industry, especially how much we value on-set professionalism and consent discussions to a wider audience beyond typical porn viewers.â Meanwhile, Dahl embraced her role in the âMommyâs Boyâ scene she did with Ricky Spanish. âAs a newcomer to the MILF genre, Iâm having a ton of fun with step-mommy role-play scenarios,â Siri says. âEven though it was our first time ever working together, Ricky and I have great chemistry, and it really shines in that scene.â Dahl tells AVN sheâs lived all overâbut she is originally from Minneapolis. She spent her teenage years in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. âI definitely consider myself a Midwesterner more than a Texan,â she says. âWhen people ask me where home is, I always say âMinnesnowta!ââ She worked in retailâa job she didnât likeâand also as a copy editor and writer before adult, which was something she loved. âEven though I was usually writing about boring subjects, it was still a lot of fun,â Siri says.Dahl reveals that she knew she wanted to get into the porn industry a few years before she actually did, when she was just starting college. âI got really into watching queer and lesbian porn scenes, and I couldnât shake the thought that âI should do that, Iâd be really good at that,ââ Siri recalls. âSo as soon as it made sense, I moved to LA and started making connections in the industry, and pretty quickly I had my first scene booked!â Now Siri says that she couldnât have possibly made a better a choice with what she does for a living. âI love everything about it, really. I love the sexual freedom and the creative freedom, but more than anything I really love the people in this industry,â Dahl says. âIâve had other careers and other jobs, and nothing compares. Whether Iâm producing my own content or shooting on a studio set, I really love the people I get to work with and the friends I've made in this industry.â And now she has learned there there is âalmost nothing that scares or intimidates me, and that Iâm an incredibly resilient person.â âThe experience of being a very well-known porn star, then retiring and being a ânobodyâ for a few years before ultimately deciding to make a comeback, gave me a lot of perspective,â Siri continues. âItâs one of the reasons Iâve taken on more of an activist role in recent years. "I hate that thereâs such a stigma around porn and sexuality in general. I want to be a resource for civilians who are curious about the world of porn, and I will always engage in honest dialogue, dispel myths, and advocate for the rights of workers and business owners in our industry.â When she isnât on the set, Dahl loves to work out, whether itâs powerlifting, yoga or climbing the Stairmaster. She also likes cooking and baking and outdoor adventures such as kayaking, camping and hiking. âAnd playing video games, especially open world RPGs!â she adds.Siri got into powerlifting because a decade ago she used to hate doing cardio. âIronically, I actually donât mind it now and after researching different ways to get fit, I decided that strength training was the best option for me,â Dahl says. âAfter a few years of general strength training, I fully dove into powerlifting, and Iâve been a powerlifter for about seven years now.â She says this year sheâs had to dial back her powerlifting for some unrelated health reasons, but âit will always be a part of my life, though.â âIâve just had to train differently, so lately Iâve been enjoying more gentle training methods, like yoga, to stay active,â Siri says.As she ponders the rest of 2023, Dahl is looking forward to taking the rest of the year at a more leisurely pace after going full force during the first half. âI do have some really exciting projects in the works, but nothing Iâm ready to tease out just yet,â she says. âYouâll just have to wait and see!â Photography courtesy of Adult Time
