Erika Lust, Stoya Team for Upcoming Release 'Dick for a Day'

BARCELONA, Spain—Award-winning filmmaker Erika Lust and writer/director Stoya are partnering for “Dick for a Day,” a new featurette set to go into production for Lust’s XConfessions streaming service. “If you follow my work, you’ve probably heard me mention Erika’s films,” Stoya said. “They have a tenderness, a connection, and gentleness that feels like art. I love how she’s realistic about ethics on set.“ The new effort is described as “An erotic meditation on our phallocentric culture—what's the phallus’ role in our society and how someone who doesn't have it would feel and act if they had one for 24 hours?” Starring Calita Fire, Catherine Knight and Tommy Cabrio as a double, the film imagines what sex would look like when people other than cis men own the power that comes with having a penis. “Dick for a Day” will also be Stoya's directorial debut for XConfessions. A release date for the featurette is pending. The two directors met last April during Lust Affairs—a three-day event for media and industry professionals to learn more about Lust’s company, culminating in the premiere of Lust Cinema’s latest release, “The Wedding.” During her visit, Stoya and Lust agreed to collaborate on a project. The inspiration for the featurette comes from Fiona Giles’ feminist anthology “Dick for a Day,” which features a collection of interviews on the subject of how someone would act if they had a penis for just 24 hours. Stoya said Giles' work led her to bring that message to the screen. Stoya, a semi-retired porn performer, writer, and director, is also one half of Slate’s “How to Do it” column. In addition, she is the author of Philosophy Pussycats & Porn. Although she has been directing herself for a few years, as well as for certain scenes where she isn’t in front of the camera, “Dick for a Day” would be her first directorial project for XConfessions.  “The story's main point is this empathy between people with different genitals and what it’s like to fuck with a penis!” Stoya said. “Dicks telegraph how you’re feeling, and they mean so much in our world—they are indicators of power.
