Dr. K Unveils 'Dream or Real' Chinese Edition

LOS ANGELES—The producer/director known as Dr. K tells AVN he’s shot a lot of “cheating housewife” scenarios, but nothing like his latest creation. He has directed more than 300 scenes for the American audience but in “Dream or Real”—which was released July 4 on ManyVids—his entire cast speaks Chinese (Mandarin). “No one in the U.S. porn industry has ever tried this before,” Dr. K says. “And this is the first time I personally participated in the performance as a director.” Dr. K selected Nicole Doshi and Leo Vice as his leads in “Dream or Real” #ChineseEdition—a 35-minute scene that was filmed in Santa Barbara that he wrote, produced and directed.  “It's a scene full of love and conflict,” Dr. K says. “While people are exploring how to maintain the passion of married life, they are also falling into the trap of marital derailment.” Dr. K for the first time also acted in a non-sex capacity, playing Nicole’s husband. The narrative follows Nicole, who is stuck in their boring marriage and decides to look elsewhere for excitement. “Both parties are trying to protect this relationship as much as possible, but in the end Nicole chose to have an affair with my good friend Leo Vice, and I chose to accept it silently after witnessing everything,” Dr. K says.  The director says there are a lot of NTR, or netorare, themes in Japanese cinema. Netorare is a term for when a lover cheats, he adds.  “I hope to make a more in-depth scene in Chinese and I did it,” he says, adding that he decided to cast breakout star Nicole Doshi because “she is one of the best female performers in the porn industry right now.” Doshi is a native of China who was living in New York before launching her porn career in 2021. “Her performance is full of enthusiasm and hard work,” Dr. K says. “The most important thing is that she is from China, her Mandarin ability and her excellent acting skills are the reasons why I choose her! “The appearance of Leo Vice is very in line with my requirements for his role in the film, full of classical temperament and melancholy eyes.” He continues, “The chemistry between Nicole and Leo during the sex film is simply amazing…They even showed a lot of aspects that I didn't ask for... Their cooperation has given me too many surprises!” “I liked it,” Doshi tells AVN. “Dr. K was very nice. He’s playing my husband in the scene and he comes home and finds out that I was cheating on him because he’s always busy at work and doesn’t have time to fuck me. “I speak Mandarin the whole scene, even during sex.” She says it was challenging to remind herself to speak Mandarin, but she pulled it off “by translating English dirty words into Chinese.” While Nicole had worked with Leo before, this was the first time she got to actually perform hardcore sex with him. “I loved it, he’s really good,” Doshi adds. Vice, who was born in Taiwan and raised in the Bay Area, is a fast rising star in his own right after debuting in 2021. Dr. K says so far sales have been brisk and the feedback has been positive. “Especially the audience in China loves the film so much,” he tells AVN. “Because this is the first all-Chinese movie in the American porn industry... They have been looking forward to it for too long and finally this scene is born!”
