YNOT Q&A: Reflecting on 150 Episodes of Adult Site Broker Talk

PATTAYA, Thailand — Bruce, the host of Adult Site Broker Talk, recently hit the 150 episode mark for the show, a significant milestone for a man who works daily to contribute to the ongoing survival of the adult entertainment industry and the challenges facing the entire segment.

In the 150th episode itself, Bruce interviewed former adult performer Lianne Young in what he called “a fascinating and very emotional conversation.” Young is one of nearly two-dozen women who have accused disgraced porn star Ron Jeremy of sexual assault. Young told British tabloid The Sun that she believes “thousands” of additional Jeremy accusers have yet to come forward.

Bruce recently sat down with YNOT to talk about the podcast, his reasons for launching the show three years ago and the work he puts in every week to keep the podcast running strong.

YNOT: When did you start ASB Talk?

Bruce: Our first episode dropped on May 19th, 2020 and it was with Anthony Rivera of AJ Studios and the LAL Expo.

YNOT: What was the purpose?

Bruce: The purpose was multi-pronged. First, it’s a great promotional tool for Adult Site Broker Talk.

We do a lot of advertising and marketing, but a podcast is a way to show your expertise to people. It also allows us the chance to spotlight people in the industry, whether it be CEO of companies or content creators. And I meet a lot of people this way that can be beneficial to my business as well as my personal life. Many guests have become good friends of mine.

One thing I’ve found in life is that you can’t ever have enough friends. Also, as a former radio guy, it gives me the chance to do something creative, which has been missing in my life for many years. I love doing it and I hope that shines through.

YNOT: Why a podcast?

Bruce: I think I kind of answered that but hey, doesn’t everyone have a podcast now? (Laughing) Podcasts are very popular now. People listen to them while working, driving, exercising, etc.

They give people the chance to soak up good information in a very passive way. And I think what we offer on Adult Site Broker Talk is some great information and insights. I was never much into podcasts myself, but doing my own has made me want to listen to others who do them. Can you explain the impact that your podcast has on your work as a broker and for your clients?

For one, it gives me a chance to spotlight a property each week that we have for sale. We’ve actually gotten leads that have led to sales of some of our listings. We’ve also picked up clients this way. People became more aware of my podcast and some of those people want to buy or sell websites. It works very well.

YNOT: 150 episodes later — why does the ASB Talk podcast persist?

Bruce: Because I work very hard on it. There’s a great time commitment to do the interviews, cut and edit the podcasts, and then promote them. But it’s well worth it. I get many great compliments on it when I go to shows and read the boards, so we must be doing something right. Another reason is that people like the podcast and keep listening to it and tell their friends and they listen.

Plus I’ve put a lot of resources into it in terms of equipment and money. I recently hired an editor who edits the interviews and cuts them into promotional snippets, which I post on social media daily.

YNOT: Do you have a particular model that you use in designing the show?

Bruce: We have a format, yes. It’s pretty straightforward. I open with some light promotional material for my company. Then we do our property of the week. We follow that up with the interview and then I close with a broker tip about either buying or selling adult websites. Then I thank my guest and promo next week’s guest. Nothing fancy.

YNOT: General thoughts? What do you wish to tell any potential guests on your podcast?

Bruce: I’d tell them that I’ll set them at ease when we talk. I’m a good interviewer if I must say so myself. I used to get paid to interview professional athletes. Compared to that this is easy. I’d also tell them that we’ll make sure and promote what you’d like to promote about your company. It’s our way of thanking our guests.

YNOT: When does the podcast website get updated?

Bruce: Ask my developer Zak, (laughing). Actually, the update should come in the next month. We still have to load a lot of content onto the new site, including all the transcriptions of the podcasts. So hopefully by mid-May.
