FSC Launches Social Media Censorship Reporting Tool |
The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) has announced the launch of a new “reporting tool for adult workers and businesses to log incidents of social media censorship. “Social media censorship continues to be one of the most significant issues facing adult businesses,” said Alison Boden, Executive Director of FSC. “But if we’re going to fight it, if we’re going to prevent it, we need better data. “Too often, we blame ourselves for bans, when, in fact, the bans are the result of changes at a platform or a bad actor,” Boden added. “The more people learn to report on the tool, the more we can identify events like changes in the TOS enforcement or coordinated deplatforming campaigns.” The reporting tool’s submission form asks for basic information, including the account name and platform, the approximate date of the suspension and any reasons for the suspension given by the platform. “As more people use it, the FSC Reporting Tool will be able to better track, identify and understand bans, shadowbans, suspensions and other censorship on social media sites,” FSC stated in announcing the new tool, adding that “while anyone who has lost an account recently is encouraged to report it, those who have lost accounts in the past can also use the tool to document those events, helping to identify historical trends in account closures.” Read the full FSC announcement here.
