PR Agents – Choosing Wisely

Even though we’d like to think we can do it alone, the truth is whether you’re a burgeoning performer or a veteran, a startup or an established company, it’s extremely difficult. There are many moving parts to creating a solid and long-lasting livelihood in adult and your talent, perseverance and chutzpah, though important are just a small part of the pie.

First and foremost, if you want to gain any traction in the industry, you’ll need an expert in public relations because very few of us are good at that ourselves.

But how do you choose the right PR company?

Just like anything else, there’s plenty of sharks out there that are willing to take your cash and make promises that never pan out. They’ll leave you spinning your wheels and going nowhere with social media that doesn’t make an impact, interviews that never happen, and press releases that don’t get published in the three largest adult media outlets – YNOT, AVN and XBIZ. And yes it does make a difference where you are promoting, no one cares about your latest scene or product being promoted on JankyNowhereBlog.com.

When you are choosing an agent make sure he or she has a working relationship with all three outlets at the least and can promise you coverage for your press releases and relevant news with each of those companies.
