Pineapple Support to Host âReflecting on Lossâ Support Group |
LOS ANGELES â Pineapple Support, the adult industryâs leading mental health nonprofit, will host a free, online support group with a focus on helping performers to process the loss of a loved one. The six-week support group, âReflecting on Lossâ will be led by Pineapple therapist Rachael Wells and will begin on Thursday, September 1st at 5:30pm EST. "In this group, all those who have survived a loss are welcome," says licensed Pineapple therapist Rachael Wells. "Whether your person, people, or pet have passed on or are no longer a part of your life, we will join together to process and validate the challenges of grieving. We will support one another compassionately and gently.â Pineapple Support was founded by British performer Leya Tanit in 2018, after a string of losses in the adult industry from depression and other mental illnesses. The organization, which is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in the United States, has so far connected more than 5,000 adult performers to mental health services, including free and low-cost, therapy, counseling and emotional support. âThe loss of a loved one can be very difficult to manage without the right support,â says Tanit. "For anyone that has previously struggled with their mental health, the loss of an important relationship can trigger emotions that can be complicated to navigate alone. Together, weâll create a healing, nurturing, and understanding space where we can support each other through this process.â The six-week âReflecting on Lossâ support group begins on Thursday, September 1st at 5:30 p.m. EST. Sessions will last for around one hour and will take place online each Thursday at the same time until October 6th.
