Lust Cinema Releases Bruce LaBruce Feature 'The Affairs of Lidia' |
BARCELONAâLust Cinema today premieres its first feature written and directed by acclaimed Canadian helmsman Bruce LaBruce. Titled The Affairs of Lidia, the movie was produced by Joe Balass and stars Skye Blue, Vanna Bardot, Drew Dixon, Sean Ford and Markus Kage, along with a special appearance by Pascale Drevillon. Describes a company synopsis, "Lidia (Skye Blue), a fashion model, discovers her husband Michelangelo (Markus Kage), a boxer, is having an affair with Sandro (Drew Dixon), a fashion photographer. She deviously plots her revenge by bedding Sandro and emotionally seducing Sandro's fashion designer boyfriend Piero (Sean Ford) while subtly manipulating her best friend and mistress, Marthe (Vanna Bardot) into having sex with Sandro as well. When Lidia finally manages to invite them all to her loft for a dinner party, along with her friend Xenia (Pascale Drevillon) ... all the knots will come to a hot, steamy head." The Affairs of Lidia follows several featurettes LaBruce has made for Lust Cinema sister site XConfessions, namely "Refugee's Welcome," "Scotch Egg" and "Valentin, Pierre & Catalina." The new movie is described as "a gentle pastiche of fasion, a light comedy [and] an erotic bedroom farce." Commented LaBruce, "I really like to represent female sexuality on cameraâeven though I'm gay. The Affairs of Lidia is partially inspired by the Hollywood film from the late '60s Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice by Paul Mazursky, which at the time was a very controversial film because the four main characters, who are played by mainstream Hollywood actors, end up in bed together in a kind of polyamorous situation. My parents were totally scandalised about the movie when it came out, and I think they even referred to it as 'pornography,' even though there's no explicit sex in it!" "Bruce LaBruce has the fascinating ability to surprise me every time," said Lust Cinema founder Erika Lust. "I am mesmerised by his daring cinematic style, original storylines, and irony. He already brought intense passion to our XConfessions catalogue, and I am glad we finally have his signature on one more groundbreaking Lust Cinema original feature! This film is just fabulous; perfect for the lovers of fashion, cinema and sex." LaBruce's credits include Gerontophilia, Grand Prix winner at the 2013 Festival du Nouveau Cinema in Montreal; Pieroot Lunaire, Teddy Award Special Jury Prize winner at Berlinale 2014; and the 2020 feature Saint-Narcisse, currently in theatrical release worldwide.
