Biopic of 'Belgian Porn King' Dennis Black Magic in the Works

CYBERSPACE—Belgian porn director Dennis Black Magic may be just 46 years old, but he's gotten one of the biggest honors someone in the adult entertainment industry can get: a real mainstream biographical movie. By contrast, Hustler publisher Larry Flynt had to wait till he was 65 before a biopic of himself was released. The Belgian Oscar-nominated director Robin Pront (D'Ardennen, 2015) will direct the movie, to be titled Zillion, which will be based both on the legendary Antwerp discotheque as well as on Magic's life.  The now-abandoned nightclub Zillion made plenty of scandalous headlines in Belgium because its owner, Frank Verstraeten, had asked Dennis Black Magic to run his VIP room, where only celebrities, fashion models, musicians and politicians were allowed to enter.  In part because of Verstraeten's choice, Magic became a celebrity in his own right in Belgium and has attained the status of a legend and porn icon today, known by 7 million people in his country. The movie is also the most expensive Belgian production ever, with a budget from 5.6 million Euros. The movie, which was originally shot last year, will be released in June of this year, owing to the coronavirus lockdown, and will have its cinematic premiere in 2022. Magic will be played by popular mainstream actor Matteo Simoni, also known from TV series and movies on NetFlix. "The greatest honor I can get is that a great, talented and famous actor such as Matteo Simoni will play me in a theater movie based on my crazy life as a porn director," Dennis Black Magic stated. "Besides Mr. Larry Flynt, I am the only porn director who gets a movie in his country. That, I call respect for my fight to make porn acceptable since 1995. I hope other countries will follow.
