Commentary: A Day in the Life of a Gentleman for Hire

I have been in the adult entertainment and modeling industry for years, and I have seen it all. From the glamour that Hollywood believes we have, to the stigma against the profession by ordinary society, there is nothing that shocks me anymore. I have to say that it is a good life even though no day can be said to be typical. As a handsome young man, I believe I have the right to use my looks, charm, and personality to make a living while making my clients happy. Even though many of the websites you would see online typically have pictures of young men with strong chiseled jaws, there is more to it than just being handsome. While some aspects of the job, such as charm and personality, cannot be taught, I have had to learn a lot in my career, which is what has made me so successful. Do You Have a Typical Routine? I am just your everyday human being, and I do pretty much what most men my age do—that is, eat, sleep, and workout whenever I have the time. However, given that my business involves tending to clients whose routines have huge variance, I usually do not have a typical routine. I could wake up at 9 a.m. on Monday, meet up with a client for lunch and have the rest of the day free to work out in the gym. Since I am a freelancer, I usually set my hours though I believe the same would apply to persons working for agencies. Given the nature of the job, I have to be very flexible, and sometimes my routine pretty much resembles that of a personal trainer. I could wake up expecting to have all day free, but if I get a call from a client, I may have to accommodate the needs of my client. While it can be disconcerting not to have a routine to follow every single day, I got the hang of it after a few weeks. I could wake up and meet up with a client that needs to talk to someone while having their morning beach walk, then head for lunch at some rustic restaurant for a romantic dinner with another, and in the evening, have a nightcap while entertaining another. Nights can be just as interesting as I have been to karaoke events, gone to local clubs for some dancing, or even just sat on the balcony with a client that wants to look out at the night sky. I have been hired for charity events, business functions, birthdays, and anything in between by people who need to present a certain image. These things can be quite fun, and I have met a lot of interesting people along the way. I have also gone on exotic trips to the Caribbean, South America, southern Europe, and Southeast Asia. Since I have no set schedule, I could be gone for as little as two hours or as long as a week if my client needs me to. I am always reading the best in men’s fashion magazines, and my house is littered with recent editions of the likes of GQ, People Magazine, and Sports Illustrated. When it comes to what to wear out on a date or function, I know everything there is to know and have all the basic dress and accessories to ensure that I am always looking dapper for my clients. Another thing I have had to get good at is the art of intelligent conversation. I am sometimes asked to accompany a client to parties, grand openings, and games where I may have to converse with different types of people. This means that I have to always be up to date with the latest news in politics, business, gossip, and many other things. While I don’t spend the whole day glued onto BuzzFeed, Fox Business, or ESPN, I always try to get a daily dose so that I can provide insightful opinions on issues when they are brought up. Do You Have to Have Sex with Clients? While the profession as a gentleman for hire is often conflated with providing sex services on demand, nothing could be further from the truth. When I am offering my services to clients, sex is usually not part of the package on offer. However, that does not mean that it is off the table. If I find a client and there is a connection and consent, then I would not object to getting down. However, I have been in the industry for years, and the range of reasons for women hiring a gentleman for hire is as varied as there are days in a month. I have been hired just to provide the attention a woman craves from a husband too busy to provide it, for some nice decent conversation that a partner may be lacking. Do Connections Happen Often With Clients I have had connections with many clients over the years though I have always preferred to have a professional relationship with my clients. I can simulate a connection with a client, and this can make a client happy, but I prefer to have my real relationships outside of work. That is not to say that I am not loving and intimate as I can be those things without getting too emotionally involved. After all, clients come and go, but relationships in the real world are for the longterm.
