Ron Jeremy Sexual Assault Case Delayed Again Until End of March |
LOS ANGELES â Once-iconic porn performer Ron Jeremy will now need to wait at least until the end of March to find out whether he will face trial on 35 sexual assault and misconduct charges brought against him in Los Angeles County since June of 2020. Jeremy had a scheduled pre-trial hearing on Monday, January 11, but his case was continued until March 30, according to information from the Los Angeles County Superior Court Public Information Office. The continuance comes after Jeremyâs pre-trial hearing on December 14, at which the longtime adult starâs lawyer, Stuart Goldfarb, asked prosecutor to hand over the names of Jeremyâs accusers. Jeremy has been accused of forcible rape and sexual assault by a total of 23 different women, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors from the L.A. County District Attorneyâs Office opposed Goldfarbâs request, saying that under state rules governing sex crime cases, accusersâ names must remain under seal. Judge Jose I. Sandoval gave Goldfarb until January 11 to answer the prosecutionâs objections â but on Monday a new continuance was granted anyway, after Sandoval denied Goldfarbâs request for the names, according to D.A.'s office spokesperson Greg Risling. Goldfarb confirmed to AVN that he plans to file an appeal of Sandovalâs denial, leading to Mondayâs continuance. The 66-year-old Jeremy has remained behind bars for the past six months, on $6.6 million bail, which he has not met. Goldfarb claimed at the earlier hearing that without the names of the accusers, he could not conduct an adequate investigation into the accusations against Jeremy. In October, Jeremy was slapped with seven new charges, to bring the total to 35. The youngest alleged victim, according to the charges, is 15 years old. The most recent incident listed by the D.A.âs office took place in the spring of 2020. If convicted on all charges, Jeremy could face what would effectively be a life sentence of 330 years in prison. He is currently being housed by himself in a medical unit of the country jail system, according to Goldfarb. Jeremy has been tested for COVID-19 twice while in jail, and has returned negative results. Goldfarb told AVN that he is not asking for Jeremyâs release from jail on COVID grounds âfor now.â
