Pineapple Support Launches Support Group for Emotion Regulation |
LOS ANGELESâAdult industry mental health support group Pineapple Support will host an eight-week online course designed to mitigate stress by helping participants manage their emotions. The online course, run by Pineapple Support therapist Sophie Graham, will focus on DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) techniques to teach performers the skills necessary to regulate emotions in order to better cope with stress. âOut of control emotions can make it hard to maintain friendships, romantic relationships and can even jeopardize our careers,â Graham noted. âWithout the skills we need to cope with difficult emotions, itâs impossible to deal effectively with stressful or distressing situations that inevitably come up in our lives. This course will teach how to recognize, understand and regulate emotions to have more choices when it comes to managing day-to-day stressors and distressing events.â âSophia is a disabled, queer coach and therapist working primarily with marginalized individuals and groups and is experienced in helping others feel more able to manage the challenges in their lives in their own way,â said Leya Tanit, the founder of Pineapple Support. âThis course is going to be incredibly useful for anyone in the industry that is interested in managing stress in a healthier and more effective way.â The eight-week DBT Emotion Regulation Support Group begins on Monday, Jan. 11, and will run from 11 a.mâ1 p.m. ET/8 a.m.â11 a.m. PT and will take place each week at the same time until March 1.
