Olive Glass to Star in BDSM Love Story 'Tied Up in Knots'

LOS ANGELES—Tied Up in Knots, the BDSM love story scheduled to begin production in early 2021, depending on the success of its crowdfunding initiative, will star actress Olive Glass and feature the work of an award-winning, female-led crew including screenwriter Olivia Senecal and director Anna Salinas. According to its creators, it hopes to fill a niche in adult entertainment that gets little recognition: one that acknowledges progressive, kinky human sexuality yet still honors loving relationships in a meaningful way. The theme of Tied Up in Knots is the desire by many in the adult kink community to be supported and also sexually satisfied, free of judgment—but its creators understand that there’s an anxiety that still exists, so Tied Up in Knots hopes to be the representation in cinema that the BDSM community has been waiting for. According to those involved in its creation, it intends to demonstrate the ability to connect with the hearts and minds of people and empower them to look at their relationships and BDSM in an authentic, new light, all while being romantic, funny and relatable. As mainstream Hollywood continues to perpetuate the stereotype that BDSM participants are disturbed and off-kilter, Tied Up in Knots will work to challenge that narrative. Made by people who are active in the BDSM community, the script re-examines the insecurities many people feel regarding BDSM, and intends to represent the lifestyle in a more factual light, with a focus on consensual play, open dialogue and being one’s self unapologetically, even when that includes being ... tied up in knots. Tied Up in Knots is working with the nonprofit Threshold LA, a longtime pillar of the Los Angeles BDSM community which is dedicated to exploring and educating people on consensual BDSM and kink. Together, the nonprofit and Tied Up in Knots producer Theresa Krosse will be co-hosting several community engagement opportunities for the feature's prospective audience, and the production just launched a crowdfunding initiative on Seed and Spark on December 15. Contributors to the project will receive special, one-of-a-kind gifts for their support. “This film is important because it diminishes the stigma around kink and gives a heart-to-heart to those feeling ashamed or nervous about their desires to participate in BDSM. Tied Up in Knots, written by Olivia Senecal and directed by Anna Salinas, showcases that it is a common desire and can be a wonderful addition to a loving, committed relationship,” said Krosse. After the production wraps, Tied Up in Knots will be entered in various film festivals, both in the U.S. and internationally, in the Short Live Action category, for 2021.
