Pornhub Names 2020 Award Winners at Virtual Event

LOS ANGELES—The virtual version of the Pornhub Awards went off with a few glitches and a decided international feel as mainstream stars joined adult performers and cam artists from around the world for the third annual awards presentation tonight. Kicked off by the animated characters Mr. Cum and DJ Banana, who stressed the fact the awards were based upon fan voting, the awards featured adult superstar Asa Akira as host during the live stream event on Pornhub.com. “Pornhub gets 148 million visitors every day and because of that we are here to recognize the incredible creators that have made Pornhub what it is today,” Akira said. The event featured a number of mainstream figues, including legendary filmmaker John Waters, Violet Chachki, Jordan Firstman, Tommy Cash, Real Housewives of New York star Leah McSweeney, City Girls, Dee Nasty and Ozuna. Among the presenters lending an international flavor were Spanish perfomer Jordi El Niño Polla, Italian native Danika Mori and Australian superstar Angela White, along with Britney Amber, Abella Danger, Ricky Johnson, Sofia Rose, Scarlit Scandal, Johnny Sins, Leolulu, Natassia Dreams, Asia Kai and many others. Adding some humor to the proceedings was comedian Dee Nasty, who conducted sidewalk interviews of fans who themselves had no qualms sharing their masturbation techniques and porn genres of choice. One woman, who was asked what kind of porn she preferred, quickly answered, “That nasty shit!” Despite some occasional “dead air” where honorees didn’t realize they were live, the event altogether ran a little over an hour and a half, featuring a handful of brief thank-you speeches from winners along with a sprinkling of some comedy segments featuring funny memes and brief skits with adult performers tapping their comedic side. The honorees were led by Lana Rhoades, who was named Most Popular Female Performer, while Jordi El Niño Polla was honored with Most Popular Male Performer. Earning Most Popular Male Newcomer was Lil D while Most Popular Female Newcomer went to Skylar Vox. In a particularly poignant moment, adult performer Darkwetdreemz shared her gratitude for earning the award for Top BBW Performer. “To all those who look like me I’d like to say that being plus size and being Black is not a deterrent in this industry.” Celebrating the industry’s past, the awards presented iconic Italian porn performer/producer Illona Staller, known as Cicciolina, with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her pioneering work in becoming the first woman to start her own production company and for advocating for women in the industry and later serving in the Italian parliament.
