Anti-Censorship Virtual Art Show E-Viction to Launch on Aug. 21 |
LOS ANGELES—The art collective Veil Machine along with partners Eyebeam and Kink Out will launch the virtual art show E-Viction (e-viction.net), a temporary platform viewable for 12 hours on Aug. 21, featuring sex workers and artists creating intimate encounters and exchanges to imagine a world beyond SESTA/FOSTA. The platform, which runs from 12 noon ET to midnight ET, will feature virtual peepshows, chat rooms and art that protests what it calls digital gentrification, before dramatizing the censorship of sex workers by self-destructing. Organizers said E-Viction is a direct response to the urgent need for a digital public sphere and the challenges of sex worker survival amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is curated by Veil Machine, produced by Eyebeam and supported by Kink Out. Performers for the event include cherubirl, Darla deVour, Empress Wu, Heidi Darveaux, JEVX, Isis, Lilith, Minxy Lopez, (m)Other, Rosie X. and Squiggles.and.Sluts.
