Dan Savageâs HUMP Porn Film Festival To Stream Live This Weekend |
LOS ANGELES—The coronavirus pandemic has hit the porn industry as hard as any other sector of the economy. Dan Savage’s annual HUMP! Film Festival tour also fell victim to the shutdowns stemming from the pandemic, closing after stops in just six cities, according to a column by Savage for The Portland Mercury. But the festival has found a way to adapt, going online for the first time — commencing with a live stream this weekend. The festival had played in Oakland, Albuquerque, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Long Beach — as well as Columbus, Ohio — before pandemic stay-at-home restrictions shut off the projector. “We were totally crushed,” Savage wrote. “Folks worked so hard on these films and the idea of not letting the world see them seemed completely unfair.” Then Savage had the idea to ask filmmakers whose works had beeb selected for the festival if they would grant permission to stream their films in an online version of HUMP! “And damn near every one of them said yes!” Savage wrote. “So here’s your chance to see HUMP! in all its glory!” A trailer for the festival can be viewed below. One silver lining to the shutdowns is that viewers anywhere in the world can now view the HUMP! entries, which include: •“Undressed,” about which the festival says, “Get the squeegee, because things are about to get wet in this steamy shower threesome.” •”Brunch on Bikes,” With a description reading, “Freshly-fucked foodies get a Special Pancake Delivery. A new recipe that will make you look at pancakes… differently.” That film took runner-up in the “Best Kink” category. •”Doppelbanger,” in which, “reality is blurred in this surreal tryst between two eerily similar guys.” •”Best In Show,” which appropriately won “Best in Show” at the 2020 festival, and which “attempts to reproduce every HUMP! trope in five minutes.” Those and 13 other films comprise this year’s festival, which will stream online each weekend for the next six weeks, starting Saturday, May 10, at 10 p.m. Eastern Time, 7 p.m. Pacific. On Friday May 22, the festival streams live at the European friendly hour of 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time, which is 4 p.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. Pacific in the United States. Other screenings are set for: Friday, May 15th - 8 p.m. (Pacific) / 11pm (Eastern) Saturday, May 23rd - 9 p.m. (Pacific) / Midnight (Eastern) Friday, May 29th - 6 p.m. (Pacific) / 9pm (Eastern) Saturday, June 6th - 5 p.m. (Pacific) / 8pm (Eastern) Friday, June 12th - 7 p.m. (Pacific) / 10pm (Eastern) The online screenings require tickets, which go for $25 (U.S.) plus fees for most streaming screenings, and are available at this link.
