Stripchat Announces Double Payout for Italian Models |
CYBERSPACE—Today, webcam platform Stripchat announced that the company is doubling the payout for Italian models, following the lockdown of Italy on Monday evening in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, which the World Health Organization has identified as a pandemic. The following details were posted on the Stripchat blog. Both new and existing models based in Italy will qualify for these increased payments. This offer aimed at providing an amplified revenue stream for Italian models, and anticipating increased demand by Italian consumers. “The adult industry needs to find ways to support those in our workforce who are affected by these quarantines and shutdowns,” said Max Bennet, vice president of new media for Stripchat. “Adult businesses are likely to see an increase in traffic over the next few weeks, and we need to do what we can to help support models in this time of need.” Bennet said the double payout is currently scheduled until the end of March but could be lifted if the Italian lockdown is lifted earlier—or extended if it isn’t. Stripchat says it’s open to extending the offer to other countries as is needed. The company also announced that it would take steps to increase the supply of money to performers by providing new users with an opportunity to dive into a free virtual date with a model of their choice. All new users who contact Stripchat’s representatives via [email protected] will get their accounts credited with tokens, worth ten minutes of private chat with a performer. However, the offer is valid only for new users who will verify their accounts. “It’s a bit unconventional, but it’s the type of stimulus that works exceeding well for the crisis,” said Bennet. “On one hand, you have millions of people, many of whom might live alone, in need of companionship. On the other, you have models in need of income. Let’s get them together and keep everyone safe. A virus can’t travel through a laptop, but an emotional connection can.”
