Ember Snow Offers 'Choice,' Her First Self-Produced Feature

LOS ANGELES—It was just about two years ago when Ember Snow first came to an AVN Talent Night, and ever since then she’s taken a proactive, professional approach to her career in the adult industry. “I didn’t join the industry just to half-ass my experience,” she says. “I’m here because I want to go all the way and make the best of it. … I feel like I’m growing little by little.” There have been some big milestones along the way. One came earlier this year, when she was featured in a scene titled “Nostalgia” with Markus Dupree. “I finally got to [Greg] Lansky’s website Tushy,” Snow says. “That was very exciting because i have been trying to work for Lansky for so long. Ever since I saw Keisha Grey as the Vixen Angel, I said ‘How do i become like that?’ I didn’t want to leave. … That was one of my happiest days.” But Snow is not one to let her fate rest in the hands of others. Instead, she’s vigorously embraced the current trend of creating one’s own content and selling it directly to fans. After finding success with a series of girl/girl scenes called Ember Snow’s Girl Crushes, she moved into doing boy/girl scenes. Now she’s gone full bore and produced her own feature—and she’s raising funds to release the movie commercially on streaming services and DVD. Titled Choice, it’s a story-driven feature with a cast of nine. She finished shooting in January, but soon found out there’s a lot more work involved in making narrative features. “I didn’t know producing is so much more difficult. You have to deal with all these things—getting people together and putting it all together. There’s actually so much more to post-production, too. It’s all in the editing,” she sighs. The screenplay was written by the Nice Guys (John McDougal and Sean Donovan), shot by Xander Porn and produced by Snow. “I didn’t star in this one because I wanted to take a back seat behind the camera. I did perform but it’s not a huge role. … I wanted to get an idea on what it’s like to produce.” The central character is played by Cherie DeVille, AVN’s reigning MILF Performer of the Year, and the supporting players are also A-listers—including Jill Kassidy, Gina Valentina, Chloe Cherry and Christiana Cinn. “We have all of these ladies—they were so wonderful,” Snow said. “Especially Cherie DeVille—that was the first time we ever worked together.” DeVille is Dawn, a bicurious divorcee, and Cinn is Karla, her best friend, who hooks Dawn up with an escort with a knack for pleasing women. “That’s me!” Snow jokes. “Cherie has a crush on her son’s girlfriend, who is Chloe Cherry, but she doesn’t know how to push forward so Christiana puts us together.” Above, Chloe Cherry in Choice, produced by Ember Snow. Jake Adams plays Dawn’s son and Kate Kennedy is in a small role as her daughter. Nathan Bronson is Jake's friend, who’s more of a player—he orchestrates a foursome with Gina Valentina and Jill Kassidy. Snow was really impressed with the entire cast: “They all got it.” “This is my first time producing something this big,” Snow admits. Also, she says, “For this one I felt like there was more pressure because we actually have an investor. … It wasn’t just my money.” And now that the project is completely done, Snow is looking to raise $24,000 to pay back the investor so she can self-distribute the title. So she’s turning to her fans and raising the money through her ManyVids page. Right now, Snow is also running a special where anybody who contributes $100 or more gets three videos from ManyVids for free. Prior to working on Choice, Snow says her most complicated self-produced content was a boy/boy/girl with Jay Smooth and Donnie Rock “that had a bit of a scenario.” She describes the scene, which is available for purchase: “Once it started getting really hot and steamy, you pan to Donnie and he’s there masturbating, so I please him too.” Her most popular videos so far, however, have been girl/girl scenes from her Ember Snow’s Girl Crushes series, which she sold directly to fans. Snow decided she wasn’t getting enough girl/girl bookings—“I feel like I haven’t worked enough with the ladies, period,” she said at the time—so she took matters into her own hands. Inspired by how Girlsway encourages its Girl of the Month performers to cast their own scenes, she orchestrated four scenes and shot them all during a one-day extravaganza. “It was a crazy day, in a good way. I worked with four ladies—they have been women I had a crush on, or just thought they were cute,” Snow recalls. To make things more fun, she gave her co-stars some sort of “first” as well. For example, one did her first scene in a bathtub. Snow worked with many well-known performers for her Girl Crushes, including Riley Reid, Jill Kassidy, Gina Valentina and Eliza Ibarra. She has sold the content on OnlyFans, ManyVids and iWantClips, and recently added Pornhub. “I was really doing well ... but it was expensive to work with the top girls,” she admits. The top sellers so far have been a pairing with Kendra Spade and another with Zoe XO. The latter is “a really new girl—I was her first girl/girl. …  I took her girl virginity.” Snow also calls out Christiana Cinn as a favorite. “I did my first girl/girl anal with her for Sweetheart Video and I liked how attentive she was with her partner—well, me. I was really nervous before that scene but she made it so comfortable and enjoyable. And she has helped me a couple of times. She got me a go-see at Penthouse and when I have questions I do come to her. She’s really nice and approachable.” Asked about whether certain directors inspired her work, she mentions James Avalon. “Someday I want to do scenes like his. And hopefully Greg Lansky’s eventually, if I get that rich,” she laughs. “Greg Lansky’s work is very similar to Andrew Blake’s and that’s really what inspired me with porn. Andrew Blake, his girls were supermodels—these unattainable women who you really want to fantasize about. Snow says she enjoys being in control when shooting her own content. “Most of the time the scenes that I’ve been to, I don’t know how it’s going to go. I don’t know how the setup is going to be.” Shooting for herself, “there are no surprises and I get to direct people.” Plus, she says, “Eventually I’m going to want to switch behind the camera. Because I’m not always going to look like this.” For now, Snow says, “I like being in this business and I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon.” And she’s hungry to make her mark. “I still feel it will take time to be recognized by people in the industry,” she says. To get ahead, she believes it’s necessary to do more than gonzo scenes. She points to Adult Time’s ambitious features, which “push the boundaries,” and hopes to work with the company. But until then, she’ll do her own shoots, and try to stand out. “There are a lot of girls, over 3,000. But I mean, c’mon, there aren’t that many Asians. Not that I always want to be typecast, but you know if I have to, I deal with it. … ‘You’re Asian, great. You can play Korean, Chinese, Japanese.’ “I do like making people guess,” says the slender Filipina. “I try to embrace that darker color.
