Career Building Blocks Working for Todayâs Industry, with Brandi Love |
Brandi Love knows a thing or two about running an adult industry-centered online empire. From shooting to social media, she recently shared her thoughts on various platforms and endeavors, breaking down what she sees as âworth itâ for career building in todayâs adult industry business landscape. YNOT: Tell us about your Twitter strategy today? What social media platforms besides Twitter do you feel are key for performers to be on in 2019? Brandi Love: My strategy for Twitter has always been very simple: Be true to who I am and try to directly answer as many tweets as I can. I’m for too busy â and, quite frankly, I don’t have a good enough memory â to “pretend” or to manage different personalities. With me, for good or bad, what you see is what you get. So on Twitter I cover everything that interests, infuriates or engages me in some way. I can go from sex to sports to religion to politics and then a blowjob pic in seconds. It probably looks a little chaotic! I also do my very best to answer tweets. Twitter can become very spammy if you aren’t careful. So whether it’s engaging a fan in a meaningful way or going #SavageBrandi on a troll, I do try to answer as many tweets as possible. What are some ways people might work to âstand outâ on social media? As far as standing out, I am not sure. I make it a practice to just be true to myself, stay true to my beliefs and defend that which I believe is correct. I think it is important to respond and relate to oneâs fans as much as possible — without them, we would not have the opportunities we have. Everyone has their favorite platforms, and there are so many of them nowadays that you can get “diluted” or spread too thin. I believe it’s important for each individual to pick no more than two to three platforms that they enjoy, and then really work those diligently. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using âgeneralâ social media like Twitter versus using sex work specific social media? Psychosocially, I’m not in favor of segregated social platforms. I’m also in favor of freedom of speech. Every time I’m forced into a sex-specific version of a platform, I feel like my right to free speech is being violated. I’m sickened by the policies of Tumblr, Facebook and even Google. Looks like Snapchat is going away as well in the not too distant future. I don’t like to be marginalized or segregated into smaller, easily identified groups. I am however in favor of requiring adult content to be behind a paywall. Economically â and I only have my personal experiences and statistics to examine, but at least for me — there is no difference in income for me between mainstream specific social media and sex work specific social media. Now, obviously I make more through FanCentro than free Snapchat, but that’s comparing a paid service to a free service. The real economic benefit in mainstream social media is derived from access to others in mainstream entertainment and business. My most lucrative business endeavors in mainstream and adult have come through contacts made on Twitter, Instagram, Cellar Tracker and LinkedIn. Knowing itâs an ever-changing balance, can you give us a run down of platforms, services and endeavors that are working for you, like, as of right now? It’s been amazing to watch the speed at which the industry has changed. It’s now in a continual state of evolution. For me personally, I had to take a step back and assess all of the available platforms and decide where I wanted to dedicate my time. At this point that would include: Professional Shoots: I honestly still love shooting with the companies and people in Los Angeles. Although it’s impossible to put a definitive timeline on it, for the next five years or so, I’ll be traveling out to Los Angeles three times a year and staying for three weeks per trip to shoot. I’ve been fortunate to be completely booked when traveling out. If that continues then we can expect between fifty-five and sixty-five scenes per year. CamSoda: I sincerely hope that my arrangement with CamSoda continues through my entire career. They are amazing. Not only do they treat me like family, but they are incredibly professional. Their system and tech have been flawless, and they implement new and engaging features all the time. It keeps the environment fun and exciting for the fans, as well as me. Best of all, for an old school businesswoman like myself, I have a competent, personal contact that actually answers her phone! I love that. |
