Terpon Acquires Patent Agreement with Virtual Immersion Technologies

Companies doing business in the live cam sector are already aware of US Patent No. 6,409,599, which is titled “Interactive virtual reality performance theater entertainment system.”

The patent owned by Virtual Immersion Technologies (VIT), LLC covers a sweeping set of important criteria for presenting live entertainment online via webcam. It has been a challenge to circumvent the stated intellectual property boundaries or to arrange a license with VIT — until now.

Terpon recently announced it has acquired a licensing agreement with VIT for the adult industry marketplace.

“We have now acquired an exclusive license agreement for the entire sexual wellness and entertainment market from VIT and will be able to assist companies in the live cam vertical by protecting their platforms from intellectual property claims, while providing state of the art virtual reality and traditional webcam device options as well,” explained Jean-Claude Artonne, CEO of Terpon.

“We are very happy to be able to provide this important level of service for our clients,” Artonne added.

Up to this point, many possible innovations in the adult industry have been slowed by fear of infringing on existing patent rights. This was the case with the “interactive virtual control of sexual aids” (teledildonic) patent that, after twenty years of control, went to the public domain last summer. Since then, a whole new wave of connected toys is emerging.

VIT’s intellectual property was originally patented and developed for a number of markets. According to the organization, real-time interactivity between viewers and performers in a live VR show is key to making any online webcam-based experience truly immersive.

Within the adult marketplace, VIT seems to support Terpon as the organization with the “right approach.” Terpon’s mission to deliver globally specialized hardware to the adult industry is capable of amplifying the VR interactivity market inside and outside adult. Licensing to Terpon should thus benefit VIT, as well as all of the companies in the industry seeking to engage VIT’s intellectual property.

Moving forward, VIT will support Terpon and its clients in the adult market, while simultaneously enforcing its intellectual property rights in all others.
