Slixa.com Offers Blog by Sex Worker Rights Advocate Kate DâAdamo |
LOS ANGELES—Slixa.com, the online adult services site, has announced the inaugural posting of Kate’s Account, a weekly blog from sex worker rights activist and advocate Kate D’Adamo. Published every Monday, the first-person feature will track D’Adamo’s investigations into the latest industry topics, news stories, legal concerns and political issues that affect workers within the community, and offer tips to those looking to get involved in the movement to destigmatize and decriminalize sex work. D’Adamo’s first article for Slixa, "March 25, 2019 - Decrim Conversations, Nevada Brothels and Calls to Action," takes a close look at the state’s laws and regulations on prostitution and its 21 legal brothels, and those continually lobbying the legislature to criminalize and shut them down. She also examines the topic of decriminalization among the country’s new presidential candidates, the increasing media attention to sex worker rights, as well as the rise of labor unions to support them in the UK. “Hopefully once a week, I can give you a smattering of how alive this movement is right now,” D’Adamo wrote, “and get you as excited as I am when I read through these things.” Formerly the National Policy Advocate at the Sex Workers Project at the Urban Justice Center, D’Adamo has also worked with the Sex Worker Outreach Project (SWOP), Sex Workers Action New York (SWANK), Survivors Against SESTA (SAS), and now supports local organizations working for sex worker rights, such as Decrim New York (DecrimNY). Through Kate’s Account, D’Adamo will continue to track the progress of these groups, as well as keep tabs on political figures’—and media pundits’—opinions and commentary on the subject throughout the coming weeks and months. For those who wish to learn more about Kate D’Adamo, Slixa has posted an interview, "Meet Kate D'Adamo: Rights Advocate + Roving Reporter," to get to know her better.
