Going to AEE? High Heels Hurting? There May Be a CBD Solution |
LAS VEGAS—It's come to AVN's attention that one or two—or all—of the actresses who walk the red carpet at the AVN Awards, or attend any other AVN Expo function in high heels, suffer during and afterwards for having had to squeeze into that fashionable but often incredibly uncomfortable footwear. But guess what? Hollywood stars have the same problem—and they've discovered, if not a complete remedy for the pain, at least a treatment that lessens the discomfort. “One great trick that a lot of celebrities in LA use is CBD cream on their feet, because it numbs the pain,” E! style expert Zanna Roberts Rassi told the New York Post's Page Six Style reporter Elana Fishman. “The Lord Jones cream is one that Michelle Williams swears by.” Apparently a lot of the stars have given Lord Jones a try and come away singing its praises—but that's hardly the only CBD cream on the market. For instance, Krista Whitley's Bella products offers Crema Elegante, whose 4-ounce jar contains 250mg of CBD and comes in Rose, Tropicale and Unscented varieties. "This multi-purpose hydrating creme is formulated to repair the natural damage that occurs as we age," the cream's website states. "Combining patent-pending peptide complex, hemp-derived botanical oil, bioactive phospholipids, and a yeast extract complex, this creme firms, tightens, and increases elasticity for smoother, more even skin." (And though the site doesn't mention it, we're told it's good for the pain that accompanies high-heel wearing.) As most folks probably know, CBD is an extract from the hemp plant—the same plant that provides marijuana, except that CBD doesn't get you high like the THC in pot does; it simply acts as a pain-killer in many formulations, a sleep aid in others, and it's got lots of other medicinal uses. “CBD applied topically is an excellent way to decrease focal pain,” board certified podiatric surgeon (and self-proclaimed stiletto lover) Dr. Suzanne Levine told Page Six Style. “When applied topically, very little CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream, and it can provide significant reduction in local pain and inflammation. ... Generally, the higher the amount of CBD the better, but also, the more expensive.” Dr. Levine also advises applying the cream proactively, since it takes a little while to work its magic, and people should also consider oral CBD products like tinctures and oils, which likewise won't get the user high, but is good for general pain relief. Another top-selling CBD cream is Hemp Bombs' Pain Freeze, an icy concoction in a four-ounce jar containing 200mg of CDB, just what's needed to numb painful body parts. "Hemp Bombs developed a CBD pain relief gel because we wanted to offer a topical CBD product to our customers," noted Linda Walkowich, senior manager of Brand Marketing & Communications. "Today, it’s one of our most popular products, and everyone loves it. From professional athletes to women stuck in high heels all day to everyday people, it’s a hit. Our formula includes natural ingredients like pure CBD, tea tree oil and menthol, which can all help soothe pain and inflammation." Pain Freeze can be found here. Finally, there's Dr. Don Davidson, aka "Dr. D," who made his adult debut at the last Exxxotica Expo in New Jersey, and who'll be exhibiting at the Adult Entertainment Expo later this month. Dr. D offers a wide variety of CBD-related products. “We are all about promoting a healthy adventurous lifestyle powered by the CBD products they formulate in a GMP facility—including a CBD-infused lube with a wonderful slip, delicious Wonderberry flavored vape, facial care line, vaginal rejuvenation gel, tinctures, capsules and more," Dr. Davidson stated. "All Dr. D. products are based off doses seen in scientific literature.” High-heel sufferers will likely be most interested in Dr. D's Lavender CBD Topical Body, Massage and Pain Cream, which contains 600mg of CBD. "The scent is completely unisex and Dr. D. enjoys using this lotion just as much as the ladies," Dr. D's website states. "Each 4-ounce bottle contains 100 percent American hemp extract containing CBD along with other moisturizers and an advanced Ph.D. developed technology that carries CBD deep into your skin. Our cream is nothing like many brands that simply mix CBD in a randomly chosen carrier oil." So, ladies (and possibly a few gents), why suffer from the pain of meeting your public and promoting your brand? Just check out these and other CBD-infused comfort creams while there's still time to order before you have to leave for AEE!
