Motherless Provides Tumblr Alternative

Tumblr banning adult content is turning the social media community upside down. Though many people have commented on how they abandoned Tumblr a long time ago, there were still a lot of adult industry folks who were still on Tumblr. For some, their entire livelihood was on the platform and the ban on adult content is threatening to end their career, or at least prompt a reboot. Beyond the potential complication to people’s income, The Nerdist brought up some interesting points about how it is disenfranchising already marginalized communities, such as LGBTQ and sex workers. Social media has the ability to drive traffic, earn money for your business, keep you in touch with your friends, and find a community where you can truly be yourself. This last point is particularly significant. Tumblr has been a home for many people who have used the platform to explore their sexuality, sexual interest, discuss their lifestyle, as well as connect with others in their community. This is not just another social network preventing people from posting NSFW content, but it is destroying communities that have been used as a valuable source of expression and solidarity. So where do we go now? I have seen various people claiming certain sites are safe, until you read their terms of service. Don't forget, Tumblr was safe too, until last week. There are some great options if people want to sell their content, but what if you just want to post adult content in a welcoming community? Motherless has answered the call.  If you are not familiar with Motherless, it is an adult content website that has a very active and engaged community. People share everything, and I mean everything! It is definitely not puritanical and is never at any threat of becoming puritanical.  Motherless has started to reach out to Tumblr members to let them know that that they are offering an alternative option and have created “tumbling blogs” which is a great profile feature that is reminiscent of its predecessor. There are many different options for where you can take your amazing NSFW content, Twitter and Reddit are some, but now it looks like Motherless may be creating the #newtumblr community.
