Kiki Vidis Slams Aussie Town That Wants to Ban Porn, Blames Women

The city of Toowoomba, in southern Queensland, Australia, with a population of about 130,000, wants to become the country’s first “porn-free” city. At recent rally held in a municipal park there, city mayor Paul Antonio handed out pre-printed cards saying, “I commit that I won’t view porn and I will help create a city free from porn.” The gathering was the third annual anti-porn rally held in the city. But Australian porn performer Kiki Vidis visited Toowoomba this week to deliver a message: The city’s crusade against porn is ridiculous. “Porn isn't a crime,” the Bad Girls Down Under star told the local media, according to the Daily Mail newspaper. “My parents put the restrictions on the computer in the family room when I was growing up. If you choose to put a computer in a child's room and no filters on, you are bringing it upon yourselves.” Vidis, who hails from the Queensland city of Gold Coast about 110 miles east of Toowoomba, blames the Toowoomba anti-porn drive on the city’s women, who she says simply don’t want their husbands and boyfriends watching pornography, saying that anti-porn sentiment is driven by “jealousy from women, and they need to learn about forgiveness.” Despite the city’s anti-porn drive, Toowoomba is home to “several adult shops, a brothel and a strip club,” according to Australia’s ABC TV.  "We're not talking about the people who are visiting the brothel or going along to the strip club," Antonio said. "We're talking about the people who are impacted by pornography, and its impact on relationships.” Apparently, relationships in Toowoomba involve plentiful use of sex toys, because according to a recent study by online adult retailer Femplay, the city leads Australia in the number of purchases of adult toys. “We’re quite surprised by the result, but we’re proud to crown Toowoomba as the nation’s sexiest town to live in,” Femplay said in a press release. An unscientific reader poll conducted in October by the Toowoomba newspaper The Chronicle had 77 percent of respondents saying that porn should be banned throughout Australia, while just 22 percent said that porn should not be banned.
