Having Left Complex News, Mia Khalifa Plans Twitch.TV Show

After her widely-publicized interview with scandal-tainted former bicycling champion Lance Armstrong, Mia Khalifa—who was briefly the most searched name in online porn—has announced her latest venture. She plans to start her own show on the Amazon-owned video streaming site Twitch.TV, according to a report in the Daily Mail Online. Khalifa made headlines with her appearance on Armstrong’s podcast The Forward by claiming that she abandoned her short-lived career in porn because she received serious death threats from members of the terrorist group ISIS, also known as Islamic State. The threats, according to Khalifa, presumably resulted from a porn video in which she appears wearing the traditional Muslim religious headdress known as the hijab while performing hardcore sex acts. Khalifa herself was born in Lebanon, but was raised a Christian, not in the Islamic faith. But the former performer has remained in the public eye even after wrapping up her adult video career, which lasted only about three months in 2014, though videos with her continued to be released into 2016. Thanks in part to an active Twitter account on which she has frequently engaged with well-known sports personalities, she landed a gig hosting a YouTube sports talk show for the site Complex News. She co-hosted the show Out of Bounds with another controversial figure, former NBA player Gilbert Arenas. But like her porn career, the 25-year-old Khalifa’s career in sports talk was a quick one. After a mere two months, she disappeared from the online program in January.  While the official announcement of her departure said that she left to pursue “other business endeavors,” Khalifa was often the subject of highly negative viewer comments. “Left to 'do other business endeavors' is code for 'You got fired,’” one commenter speculated. But there has never been any confirmation that Khalifa was forced out of the show. Khalifa told Armstrong that she left the Complex show of her own accord, and that the site was “understanding” of her decision. Nonetheless, she now plans to launch her own show on the Twitch platform, where she has posted videos such as “Shopping With Mia,” and “Avajaijai’s Dinner Party” since June of last year. Twitch.TV is primarily a platform for video gamers, who often live-stream their gaming sessions. But Khalifa so far has not been specific as to what she plans for her Twitch show, or when the new online streaming show will launch.
