Stormy Daniels Talks To Jimmy Kimmel About Trump ScandalâSort Of |
LOS ANGELES—AVN Hall of Famer Stormy Daniels appeared on ABC TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live program Tuesday night, where she stated that she did not know the origin of a statement attributed to her in which she purportedly, again, denies that she had a sexual relationship with Donald Trump. The statement, which was obtained by the site BuzzFeed and circulated online Tuesday afternoon, can be viewed at this link. In the interview with Daniels which aired shortly after Trump delivered his State of the Union address, Kimmel noted what numerous Twitter commenters had pointed out earlier: that the “Stormy Daniels” signature on the statement that circulated Tuesday does not appear to be the same as Daniels' actual signature that appears on various signed photographs of the porn star—or on an earlier statement issued on January 12 by Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen. When asked directly by Kimmel whether she had signed Tuesday’s statement, Daniels replied, “I don't know. Did I?” She then added, “Doesn't look like my signature, does it?” But on Wednesday morning, BuzzFeed reporter Anthony Cormier wrote that a “lawyer for Stormy Daniels tells me she signed the statement today, in front of him and her PR rep.” However, in the interview, Daniels was asked by Kimmel if she knew the origin of the statement, and Daniels replied, “I do not know where it came from. It came from the internet.” In another significant moment in the Kimmel interview, Daniels may have indirectly confirmed that she has, in fact, signed a non-disclosure agreement preventing her from talking about her alleged sexual affair with Trump. In its bombshell January 12 report that ignited the Trump-Daniels scandal, The Wall Street Journal reported that Cohen had paid Daniels $130,000 in “hush money” just a month prior to the 2016 presidential election. When Kimmel asked her directly if she had a non-disclosure agreement, Daniels remained silent. He then noted that if she had not signed such an agreement, “you certainly could say, 'I don't have a non-disclosure agreement.'" To which Daniels replied only, “You’re so smart, Jimmy”—a response that in the context of Kimmel’s question could easily mean that she has indeed signed an NDA over the alleged Trump affair. Kimmel finished the interview with a semi-improvised skit using puppets to represent Trump and Daniels—but even in the puppet segment, Daniels offered nothing specific to confirm or deny her reported affair with Trump. Oddly, a friend of Daniels, former adult performer Randy Spears, revealed earlier to InTouch magazine that Daniels boasted that Trump was “so taken with me that I could move him around like a puppet.” The entire Jimmy Kimmel interview with Stormy Daniels is posted online, and may be viewed at this link.
