Another Anti-Porn Pol Goes 'Ted Cruz'n' Himself' |
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla.—The idea that most politicians don't look at porn in their spare time (or even at work) is likely ludicrous. Many have been caught doing it already, and many more are simply fearful that they will be—and social media is just making it all the more difficult for them. Take Ross Spano, the state representative from District 59, on Florida's west coast. He's been making the news recently for having filed yet another one of those boilerplate bills authored by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation declaring porn to be a "public health crisis," even though no reputable researcher would agree with that label—but now, Spano's hypocrisy has taken center stage. Seems the Orlando Weekly's crack reporter Colin Wolf, who's spent some time digging into Spano's past, has discovered an interesting tweet Spano posted back on January 8. The tweet "favorites" a tweet from the account of "Goddess Lesbian" which features 17 seconds' worth of hot woman-on-woman action, courtesy of hardcore producer Reality Kings. When contacted about the tweet, Spano (of course) disavowed it. "With a thorough examination of my accounts, it will be easy to see that this is not my doing," he told the Orlando Weekly. "I have since gone back, once notified, and rectified the problem. And I’m now looking into how it occurred in the first place." Because of course, Spano couldn't have posted it himself! And worse, he couldn't have simply left it in full view on his Twitter history for a full nine months! After all, according to him, such material "objectifies women, normalizes violence and the abuse of women and children, and depicts rape and abuse as harmless, thereby increasing the demand for sex trafficking, prostitution, and child pornography," not to mention "potentially" causes "mental and physical illnesses; difficulty forming or maintaining intimate relationships; unhealthy brain development and cognitive function; deviant, problematic, or dangerous sexual behaviors; and addiction." Not only that, but it "is potentially biologically addictive, resulting in the user consuming increasingly more shocking material to satisfy the addiction," and "has a detrimental effect on families and is linked to a reluctance to enter into marriage, dissatisfaction in marriage, and marital infidelity." Hey, don't believe us; it's all there in black and white in Spano's new bill, HR 157. On the other hand, CNN had a little trouble believing all those claims about the nasty things porn does—so they went out and asked a few people and organizations what they thought of this "public health crisis" nonsense. CNN's findings are right here. This makes Spano the second politician in recent weeks to have his porn-viewing habits exposed his account hacked by unknown perps who only changed one single entry. But as far as the Orlando Weekly is concerned, it's just another example of Ted Cruz'n yourself.
