Siouxsie Q to Stage One-Night Show of Musical 'Fish Girl' Friday |
LOS ANGELES—Writer, activist and adult performer Siouxsie Q brings her original one-act musical, Fish Girl, to MOments Playhouse in Los Angeles Friday for one night. The play is a culmination of a five-year long-distance collaboration between Q and Sean Andries and originally premiered at the San Francisco Fringe Festival in 2013. "When we were given the opportunity to bring the story of Fish Girl to LA, we jumped at the chance,” Q said. “This play is my heart and we are excited to bring it to a select private audience for one night only. There will be key collaborators in the audience, along with a talk back, as we hope to lay the groundwork for another run in the near future. Sean and I have both changed and grown since the play's inception, and we are excited to discover how that will affect the show.” A fairy tale exploring themes of sex work through the lens of fantasy, Fish Girl tells the tale of a love struck tourist (Andries) who falls into the deep end when he meets the "girl" of his dreams (Q). She’s half fish, half girl, half real and half dream. Fish Girl includes original songs written and performed by Q, as well as shadow play, physical comedy, antique slide projections and high drama. It provides a look into the hopes, dreams and fears of a sex worker and the one who loves her. Doors open at 7:30 pm, with the show starting at 8:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. View the official Facebook Event Page here. MOments Playhouse is located at 665 N. Heliotrope Drive, Los Angeles, CA, 90004.
