Xposed Gentlemen's Club Is Site of Attempted Robbery |
CANOGA PARK, Calif.—Xposed Gentlemen's Club, the only club in the Los Angeles area owned by a former adult performer, was the scene of a fatal shooting when two alleged gang members were killed while trying to rob the place shortly after it closed for the evening. At 4:20 a.m. Saturday morning, after last call had been sounded at the 8229 Canoga Avenue location and more than a dozen people were finishing their drinks and about to head out the door, two men with guns pushed past security guard Charles White, got into a confrontation with the club's manager and began shooting, apparently trying to create enough chaos to allow them to raid the club's registers and other cash stashes. White had returned fire and managed to kill both robbers, but not before they wounded White in the leg and shot a club DJ in the chest. Both are expected to recover. "The guy puts the gun to his [the club manager's] head; he grabbed that gun, took that gun out; the security guard shot both of them and killed them," club owner Brian Barnes told CBS-2 News. "You know, it's not just a strip club problem; it's not just a bar problem. There are people in this country that just shouldn't be out on the streets." Barnes may have been referring to the fact that in 2013 and 2015, shootings had occurred in the club's parking lot, and the club has reportedly been the subject of local residents' complaints. Barnes was known in the adult industry as actor Brick Majors, who began appearing in BDSM movies in 1984 and began doing boy/girl scenes in 1995 before retiring in 2001. He opened Xposed shortly thereafter. Police have deemed the shootings to be "justifiable homicide."
