LOS ANGELES—X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All-Time, a feature-length documentary that examines the top erotic films from 1971 to 2015, will premiere on various VOD outlets on Friday, July 15. The movie will be available for immediate rentals and sales on Amazon Video, Playstation and other transactional stores. Gravitas Ventures is handling worldwide distribution of the title. “We look forward to working with the filmmakers behind X-Rated, which offers a poignant commentary on the lasting and underestimated impact of the adult entertainment industry on the world as a whole,” said Dan Fisher, senior director of acquisitions for Gravitas Ventures. With more than 75 interviews and clips from the greatest adult films of all time, the documentary features an array of adult stars and directors from past and present, including Jenna Jameson, Jessica Drake, Georgina Spelvin, Constance Money, Kay Parker, Skin Diamond, Ron Jeremy, Ginger Lynn, Richard Pacheco, Andrew Blake, Stoya, Paul Thomas, Jesse Jane, Veronica Hart, Ana Foxxx, Marilyn Chambers, John Stagliano, Christy Canyon, Herschel Savage, Nina Hartley, Janine Lindemulder, James Deen and scores more. Produced by AVN Founder Paul Fishbein through his Plausible Films banner and directed by the award-winning filmmaker Bryn Pryor, X-Rated takes an insightful look at the history of adult filmmaking by examining 32 of the most impactful films from 1971 through 2015. The 94-minute film, which premiered on Showtime in February 2015, is hosted by Chanel Preston, star of Plausible Films’ Adult Insider series. “The production is basically a history of adult movies through the lens of these 32 excellent films,” Fishbein said. “Each film we highlight is a snapshot of a period in history and the life forces that shaped the adult film industry.” The film chronicles 1971’s iconic Deep Throat, which arguably began the Golden Age of Porn, and the lines that greeted Behind the Green Door (1972) and The Devil in Miss Jones (1973) through the birth of home video, HD and online streaming. Performers and many top industry personalities of past and present lend their talents to discuss and share their unique views of the films that are presented. “This documentary is one definitive look at the adult industry over the past 45 years, charting the political and social changes as well,” Fishbein said. “We also think it examines the cultural impact these films still have today.” For more information, visit Sho.com.
