Vespoli Aims to Carve Out Niche With TwistedVisual.com |
CYBERSPACE—A pornographic voice like that of newly inducted AVN Hall of Famer Dana Vespoli cannot always easily find a suitable venue in which to freely wail. Which is why Vespoli decided roughly a year ago to build her own. With the website TwistedVisual.com, launched last May, Vespoli has set out to craft a unique haven for what she dubs "adult content that doesn't discriminate in sexual taste or preference." The offerings populating the site thus far range from girl/girl to pegging to transgender fare, and Vespoli has any number of ideas as to how she'd like to expand the gamut. "I wanted to do something that best reflected my interests and leanings and sexual peccadillos, that best reflected my personality and what I enjoy in porn," Vespoli told AVN. She explained that a lot of what she's created under her DV Productions banner, distributed by Evil Angel since 2013, "might be interesting, but it gets swallowed up in all the oily gaping asses; and the BDSM stuff that I've done, the gender transgression stuff that I've done has been well received by adult critics and some fans, but it's not really what Evil Angel does, so my sales reflected that." By a similar token, her auteristic predilections don't quite fit the mold of the titles she's churned out for Mile High Media's Sweetheart Video since 2012. "So I was just curious what would happen if there was like a go-to place that wasn't attached to any of that," she continued. "It's sort of an experiment; it might fall flat on its face, but I'm in porn because I love it, and I would like to, in addition to doing the stuff that makes money, I would like to have a place where I can explore scenes that just don't work well under the Evil Angel umbrella or the Mile High umbrella." Among the types of content Vespoli said she'd like to add to TwistedVisual.com looking ahead is "more femdom. I enjoy shooting femdom. And more TS, and more, I'm going to say 'bondage light,' and then get a little harder. We'll see. Some stuff is a hard sell but I really love it, so I think I have to temper it with other things and then just sort of see how it does on its own." She also hopes to add gay material to the mix in some capacity. "I'd like to have at least a link that can lead you to a gay site," she said. "I know that sometimes that kind of blending can put people off, if somebody scrolls down and suddenly sees two guys together, it sort of puts them off and they just get off the site altogether. Maybe like a little thing to suggest, 'You can see gay here,' almost like how Kink has theirs set up. I shot a gay movie recently, and I really enjoyed it, it was a super different experience, but I would be very open to shooting my own gay content." Vespoli has what might be called a cautiously optimistic outlook for the success of the site. "I like it, I'm proud of it—I have no idea if the rest of the world will like it, but its membership is growing, so that's a good sign," she mused. "It's an experiment. It's tough to do a site nowadays, but it's worth a shot. I feel like I've done my time in this industry and I have as good a shot as anybody at drawing some fans to it." She added, "I'm hoping people will respond to things that I also like. I mean [Evil Angel founder John] Stagliano always said, 'You need to shoot what you enjoy, because somebody out there has to like it, because you like it.' We'll see."
