Bret Easton Ellis Comments On James Deen Assault Allegations |
LOS ANGELES—Author and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis, who produced the 2013 movie "The Canyons" with James Deen in his mainstream film debut, on Friday called the multiple sexual assault allegations against the embattled adult star a "witch hunt" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. In a Q&A with writer Seth Abramovitch titled "Bret Easton Ellis on James Deen Rape Claims: 'A Ridiculous Witch Hunt,'" Ellis suggests that Deen's ex-girlfriend Stoya, who accused him of raping her on Twitter on Nov. 28, was not being truthful. "And when this evidence comes out with texts and emails, it’s going to prove everyone who is #solidaritywithstoya to be ashamed of themselves," Ellis said. Aside from denying any wrongdoing via his own Twitter and Instagram accounts, he told the Daily Beast this week the claims are false in his only interview since the allegations surfaced. Stoya elaborated on her rape allegations in an interview with The Guardian in a story by Melissa Gira Grant titled, "How Stoya took on James Deen and broke the porn industry's silence." "If I don’t say it now, then, when am I?" Stoya said. "Am I just going to carry it around for the rest of my life and keep it secret? Because secrets aren’t really a thing that I do.”
