'Marriage 2.0' Earns Nomination for Feminist Porn Awards |
LOS ANGELES—Fresh from a win for Best Narrative Award at New York’s CineKink 2015 film festival, Marriage 2.0 has received a nomination for the Feminist Porn Awards, to be held in Toronto, Canada on April 17. Given its well-developed female characters and celebration of non-traditional sexuality, it's not surprising that the movie, made by LionReach Productions and distributed by Adam & Eve, was honored by the awards show, which celebrates diversity and acceptance in adult film. The 10th anniversary Feminist Porn Awards is part of a series of events produced by Good For Her and scheduled April 15-17 at various locations and times. The award categories promoting feminism, empowerment, and equality will be disclosed at the event, which will be held at 7 p.m. at Toronto’s Capitol Event Theatre. Visit FeministPornAwards.com for more information. “We are very thankful to the organizers of the Feminist Porn Awards for this nomination,” said Marriage 2.0 screenwriter and producer Magnus Sullivan. “We feel we’ve created a new kind of film, which melds the worlds of adult films with independent filmmaking that tests the definition of mainstream cinema.” “Marriage 2.0 is an innovative film that explores new ways of imagining marriage,” stated Feminist Porn Awards organizer Carlyle Jansen. “It has great dialogue, is well shot and fun, and ushers in a new era of straight pornography.” To read AVN's review of the movie, click here. The un-rated version of the film premiered February 26 on AdamAndEveTV.com, an Adam & Eve property powered byGameLink.com. "I truly feel as though Marriage 2.0 is a game-changer for the adult industry,” said cast member Andre Shakti. “While we have these two radically different porn genres currently seeing great success—'feminist/indie' porn and 'mainstream' porn—there's been a tense emphasis on both arenas to compete with and denounce one another rather than to support and draw inspiration from one another. Marriage 2.0 was intentionally cast with talent who often bridge the genre gap in the industry, doing so in a way that makes us wonder exactly which genre we're watching. I love that, and I'm thrilled to have been a part of it." Also sharing her thoughts on the movie and nomination was author and sex educator Carol Queen, who played Mrs. Peters in the film: “Marriage 2.0 is a deeply sex-positive film, with diverse relationship and sex-styles integral to the plot and believable, complex characters,” she said. “Strongly drawn women (and everybody else) make this one erotic film that people can not only relate to, but learn from. It proves that porn can be a genre that can really make a difference.” The Feminist Porn Awards criteria are quality, or films with good production values and performances; inclusiveness, or films that explore diverse expressions of sexuality; the “It” factor, or films with a unique, fresh or compelling perspective; as well as hotness, or beautiful bodies that are well lit and arouse audiences. The awards are presented every year by Good For Her, the Toronto-based adult retailer dedicated to creating a nurturing environment for adults seeking to learn more about sex and pleasure. It provides sex toys, erotic and educational books on sex as well as DVDs and workshops to further adult sex education. For more information about Marriage 2.0, visit Marriage2point0movie.com.
