Robin Williams' Doppelganger is a French Porn Star |
LOS ANGELES—The physical similarities between the late Robin Williams and a French adult performer who performs as Alain L’Yle are so uncanny that the latter has been tapped by UK television network Channel 5 to play the beloved comedian and actor in the controversial decision to explore the death of Williams in an episode of the network's documentary series, Autopsy. According to The Mirror, which reported on the story this weekend, "Grieving relatives will be 'utterly dismayed'" at the decision to recreate the comedian's suicide on air. "A close family friend of the Oscar winner said the broadcaster should be 'ashamed' for trying to profit from his tragedy,"added the paper. Saying she hopes people "refuse to watch" the show, the friend told The Mirror, “With each passing day the pain for Robin’s family eases just a fraction but something as disturbing as this just takes them backwards. “Why anyone would want to make such a program is beyond comprehension," she added. "His wife and family will be utterly dismayed that someone is seeking to profit from Robin’s death in such a grotesque way." While that complaint appears to be more concerned with the producers' decision to profile Williams' death than the hiring of an adult performer to portray him, the paper's headline strongly suggests that the fact that the documentary features a "lookalike porn film star" will only add to the family's pain, a claim that is not supported in the article. Instead, a source from the show tells the paper, "The man who plays Robin is a spitting image. His resemblance to Robin freaked out a lot of the cast." The Mirror editors obviously had a similar reaction. According to iafd.com, Alain L'Yle has 140 credits to his name. The Mirror adds that he also is "a professional Robin Williams lookalike from France called Alain Poudensan" who, in addition to his adult work as L'Yle, "uses the name Alain Robin when impersonating the American star."
