Plausible Films' 'X-Rated' to Premiere on Showtime Friday |
LOS ANGELES—X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All-Time, a feature-length documentary charting the top erotic movies from 1971-2015, premieres on Showtime on February 6 at 11PM EST/PST. Featuring 32 of the most important, impactful and historically significant features of the modern era, the show covers works from Deep Throat to last year’s multi-award winning Underworld and everything in between. Produced by Paul Fishbein and Darren Roberts through their Plausible Films banner, X-Rated is directed by the award-winning Bryn Pryor and hosted by Chanel Preston, star of Plausible Films’ Adult Insider series. “While it’s really interesting to see a chronological listing of the greatest adult movies ever, X-Rated is more than simply a top 30 list,” Preston said. “The documentary is a record of the colorful history of the adult entertainment industry, showing how each movie was not only a reflection of society at the time, but also directly impacted it. “I really learned a lot about the industry I love, and I gained great insight from spending time with legends like Christy Canyon,” Preston added. Featuring over 75 interviews and clips from all of the titles selected as “greatest,” the show features an array of adult stars from the past and present, including Jenna Jameson, Jessica Drake, Georgina Spelvin, Constance Money, Kay Parker, Skin Diamond, Ron Jeremy, Richard Pacheco, Bonnie Rotten, Andrew Blake, Stoya, Paul Thomas, Jacky St. James, Jesse Jane, Veronica Hart, Ana Foxxx, Marilyn Chambers, John Stagliano, James Deen and scores more. “What I liked was hearing the stories about what happened during the making of these classic films from the actual stars and directors telling them,” producer Fishbein said. “But it was also great having current adult stars comment on the films from the past, getting their unique perspective on what the industry might have looked like 20, 30 and 40 years ago.” Director Pryor said that putting this documentary together has been a fantastic experience for him. “I feel like what we achieved with X-Rated is an honest and faithful history of the adult business, focused through the lens of a handful of exceptional films,” he said. “The voices and the stories we managed to capture for this piece are unlike any other documentary about the industry. It presents little time capsules; specific moments in the birth and evolution of porn, explained by the people who lived them.” Plausible Films also recently produced Sex With Sunny Megatron, an eight-episode series for Showtime, along with production company The Jay and Tony Show. X-Rated is the company’s first full-length feature. “This documentary proves that even in the adult genre, there's creative and artistic excellence, and the network has been behind the project 100 percent from day one.” Pryor said. “I'm very grateful to Showtime for giving us a platform to present this film, and for recognizing that these incredible tales deserve to be told.” The show runs 94 minutes and will be repeated on Showtime’s various networks throughout the month of February.
