Industry Manager-Producer Dan Barros Passes |
LOS ANGELES —Dan Barros passed away unexpectedly January 21 after suffering a massive heart attack. Barros was instrumental in the career of performers like Vivid contract girl Jen Teal and Melissa Hill, who won an AVN Award for Best Supporting Actress in Bad Wives (1997). Originally from the Philippines, Barros relocated to Northern California and began his career in adult as the owner of Top Flight Entertainment, a Bay Area company that managed local area dancers. From this sprang Wildfire Productions, an amateur video company that utilized the talents of his dancers in solo and girl/girl scenarios. He eventually expanded to direct mail order sales. Barros stood out in the industry because he really cared about his clients. This was evidenced by the heartfelt words of Melissa Hill, who has known him since 1993. "Dan was more than just a manager," Hill said. "I started out with him as a dancer, did some videos, and also worked in his office. When I told him I wanted to go to L.A. and shoot feature films for the big companies, he took me to an adult video store and showed me photos of girls when they first started, and what they looked like after working a few years to illustrate what the industry can do to a girl. He really cared about our welfare, and he was never inappropriate." AVN would appreciate hearing from other clients and friends of Barros who would like to share remembrances about him. Send email to PR@avn.com. Also, as we receive information about a pending memorial or services, we will report on it.
