Need a Drone? Contact UK's Cloud 12, Now Gone International

A British aerial cinematography business is taking its service to new heights with its ultra-modern Droidworx SkyJib 8 Heavy Lift Octocopter, affectionately referred to as Olivia. The next generation UAV technology weighs a light 15kg allowing clients to capture helicopter standard shots without the helicopter, or the sky high price tag. In the lead up to 2015, Cloud 12 has its sights set on expanding into international airspace, to tap into global advertising and film opportunities. Since its launch in 2012, Cloud 12 has enjoyed soaring success. In just two years the company has established an impressive portfolio of clients, including an array of high profile household names. From the very beginning Cloud 12 rubbed shoulders with the industry elite, its debut project commissioned by none other than Atlantic Records. The Filipino shoot of Rudimental’s 'Not Giving In' music video was a flying feat, which went on to be crowned a UK Music Video Awards winner. The company’s most recent high profile project involved shooting Criminal, an upcoming action/crime/thriller starring Kevin Costner, Ryan Reynolds, Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones and Gal Gadot. As part of the production process, Cloud 12, along with sub-contracted firm UAViate, secured ground breaking permission to fly its Octocopter over the congested streets of central London. This pioneering accomplishment involved ongoing correspondence with the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), DPG (Diplomatic Protection Group), London Film Council, borough councils and the local police. Yet, despite strict legislation, Cloud 12 was able to provide and deliver a solution to a mission that had been deemed impossible. Ben Keene, Managing Director of Cloud 12 Ltd, said, “One thing that came to light in conversation with other crew members is that when 24 were filming their latest season in London, they tried and failed to get permissions for UAVs to provide aerial footage—so our unofficial tagline has become, 'Cloud 12, succeeding where Jack Bauer failed!'” The Droidworx Octocopter is capable of lifting a RED Epic, a state-of-the-art professional movie camera used by famous cinematography icons across the globe. Film can be shot at a crystal clear 6K resolution, while the incredible Movi M10 brushless gimbal captures fully stabilized aerial shots. For broadcasting corporations, Cloud 12 has emerged as a reliable and cost effective means of capturing aerial film. The BBC, ITV and Channel 4 have all enlisted the company’s expertise on productions such as Downton Abbey and New Tricks; as well as prominent digital production agencies, such as Stink Digital, Partizan and Blink Productions. Cloud 12 also welcomed an influx of interest from film production companies requiring high definition cinema standard footage. Previous clients include Millennium Films, Great Guns, Forever Pictures, Knucklehead, Moxie Pictures and Thomas Thomas Films. Cloud 12 also specializes in advertising, boasting partnerships with some of the world’s most recognized brands including KitKat, Three Mobile, Ikea, Infiniti, Nissan, Clarks, Nike, Freeview and Audi. In response to demand, founders Ben and Graham have increased the scope of the company to cater to the influx of new business. Cloud 12 now deploys globally, and is capable of transporting crew and equipment with minimal notice. The aim is to tap into lucrative global markets on a regular basis, positioning the company as the go-to provider for big budget projects in need of an aerial operator, at the top of its game.
