Disgraced Anti-Porn Zealot Shelley Lubben to Speak at VA Church |
CHESAPEAKE, Va.—What with just about all the porn stars she's "helped" having very vocally deserted her, and her alliance with AIDS Healthcare Foundation over condoms in porn in tatters, anti-porn evangelist Shelley Lubben and her Pink Cross Foundation aren't doing so well these days—but fear not: As long as there are gullible churchgoers somewhere in the world, Lubben will be there to feed them lies about the adult entertainment business. The festivities start tonight, when Pastor Joel Brown of the Church at Hampton Roads (CHR) will be sponsoring "PORN Friday," where "CHR Youth (FORGE & The U), College & Young Adults" are invited to "Come listen to Shelley Lubben as she speaks on the dangers of pornography." Of course, the pastor's had his own troubles with porn, as he admitted on his blog. "I have experienced the death grip of porn in my life," Brown wrote. "Early on in my marriage it almost took everything from me. But God, in His mercy AND POWER, delivered me from the lies that were fueling my addiction. Porn is everywhere. It is pervasive. It ranges from ads to music videos to beyond hardcore (take my word for it). It is a destroyer of intimacy & physiology. It has more of a grip on our culture than we know... I grew up in a generation where not many took the time or effort to tell me about porn. And when I became affected by it, resentment built up in me like a flood. I can understand if you (the older generation) sent me out into the world equipped for what I was to face. But to stay fearful? To leave me defenseless and open to something like this? That is NOT love. Why did I not have older men spending time with me? Parents doing a lot more for me? WARNING ME? This thing almost took EVERYTHING! My marriage, my kids and my future!" Hell of a story, eh? No wonder he's prey to anti-porn con artists1 In any case, the "PORN weekend" continues tomorrow, when it's men only for "PORN & Pancakes," where the church website extols, "Men, let's gather, connect, eat and get informed on the dangers of porn as well as the dangers of the porn industry. We believe God is going to move in a big way as we surrrender this area to Him and learn more about it. You never know who you will meet and be able to affect after knowing more. Because if you do not struggle with this, someone close to you does." And finally, there's "PORN Sunday," about which the CHR website explains, "We understand the devastation that pornography is having on our society— Marriages, relationships, our careers and our kids. Porn is NOT glamorous. It kills. It is also tied to human trafficking. People's lives are at stake with this topic. We are hitting this head on to see people set free. You will not want to miss this! "Come join us Sunday October 5th as we turn to Jesus, The One who can deliver us in this generation of sexual promiscuity...," the site continues. "Additionally, we are encouraging parents with children in Middle School and High School to bring their teens to this event. More and more children are being exposed to pornography than ever before, and we want to make sure that they are equipped with the truth so that they do not fall prey to the dangers of pornography." [Emphasis added] A real family affair, eh? And who knows more about families than Shelley Lubben, whose own brother has gone on record debunking her lies? Not to mention the porn stars she stalked online in an attempt to "save" them. And then there are the lies and deceptions Lubben herself has told, as cataloged by Michael Whiteacre in his series "The Devil and Shelley Lubben" here, here, here, here ... and here. So have fun, Hampton Roaders (assuming you even know about the event, since all the signs about the event that were posted around town last week have disappeared)—and dig deep into those pockets to contribute to Lubben's Pink Cross Foundation, the vast majority of whose promises to help ex-porn stars build a better life have turned out to be just so much hot air!
