Trailer for Lars von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac' Released |
LOS ANGELES—They say the just-released trailer for Lars von Trier's highly anticipated Nymphomaniac is not-safe-for-work, but that's only if you've never watched Showtime. The trailer, which debuted today, features glimpses of sexual acts, a generous bit of nudity and what looks to be seminal fluid being wiped from an apparently grateful mouth, but while it's not the full-blown porn we watch daily at AVN, most employers will inevitably prefer that employees watch the trailer at home or on their cells in the car, but not at the desk or in the lunchroom. Amusingly, The Hollywood Reporter, in its story on the trailer, linked to the YouTube version, which has since been removed for violating "YouTube's policy on nudity or sexual content." In this case, it would be both. THR must have anticipated YouTube's response, however, observing in its piece, "It will be interesting to see what YouTube makes of the trailer. The online video service pulled a previous Nymphomaniac teaser, which featured some naughty business with LaBeouf." HuffPo also had the trailer for a while accompanying its piece, but that's gone now too. "Starring Charlotte Gainsbourg (and, in flashback scenes, Stacy Martin) as the title sex addict, and featuring a supporting cast that includes nipple-licking Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman and Christian Slater, Nymphomanic is set for release in Denmark and Spain on Dec. 25 before further rollout in 2014," reported the site. The movie will be released in two parts, each reportedly about two hours long, with a director's cut that runs a singular five hours plus in length. In the meantime, one can get a definite feel for the movie in the 1:55 minute "sex-soaked" trailer.
