Monarchy Distribution Celebrates 3 Years In Business |
LOS ANGELES—In January 2010, industry vet Mike Kulich left DVD Makers, at the time the largest DVD Replication company in the industry to embark on creating a new company with a unique business plan to seek out independent producers and internet studios and bring them into the more traditional distribution markets including DVD and broadcast. Started as a one man operation, Kulich spent 10 months scouring every corner of the internet seeking out producers, talent and anyone with content who was missing out on the DVD and broadcast market. In November 2010, Monarchy was born and grew exponentially from month to month. Three years later, the company has released over 600 titles and boasts a staff of over 15. "I can't believe it has been three years already" Kulich said. "When I first came out with the idea it seemed like more of a pipe dream. With the DVD market starting to decline and everything going digital at times I questioned myself wondering if continuing with DVD was the right choice. Looking back it was the best decision I have ever made. I think our success has proved that the DVD market is still extremely profitable and tangible. DVD may not be around forever, but I am confident that Monarchy will be one of the last ones standing." Monarchy has earned a number of accolades when it comes to mainstream recognition. The company came right out of the gate with their debut title, Anal Artists, which boasted an unreleased scene starring Sasha Grey. The title earned press in Huffington Post, TMZ and a number of other large news sites. Since their first title, Kulich has worked the mainstream angle on a number of his movies resulting in numerous mainstream placements including Huffpo, Forbes Magazine, New York Magazine, Instinct Magazine and many others. The company now maintains 15 separate studios, each catering to a specific niche. Each studio releases on average between 2-4 titles per month. In addition, the company also caters to individual performers who shoot their own content. In 2012, they released BBW Icon Kelly Shibari's self-produced title, Kelly Shibari Is Overloaded, which quickly became a top seller and earned a number of industry awards and nominations. The company has also signed Get Shot!, the Sacramento punk band responsible for having their bassist masturbate on the front lawn of the Westboro Baptist Church. The company is also planning on releasing DVD's in the coming year from online sensation Addie Juniper and MILF queen, Carey Riley. Since Monarchy's launch they have earned over 20 award nominations from AVN, XBIZ, The Tranny Awards, BBW Fanfest, and Nightmoves and took home 2 wins from the Nightmoves Awards including Best All Sex release and Best Cougar Milf release.
