‘Boogie Nights’ Gets Live Reading Thursday at LACMA

LOS ANGELES—Tonight, the adult entertainment industry will gather for an evening of festivities as the first-ever Sex Awards takes place in Hollywood, California. Tomorrow, director Jason Reitman (Juno) has gathered a group of Hollywood actors for a live reading of Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1997 porn opus, Boogie Nights, as part of his “Live Read: Directed by Jason Reitman” series at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Tomorrow’s reading is the season’s first installment of Reitmen’s series, and features a cast that includes Taylor Lautner (Twilight saga) taking on the Mark Wahlberg role of Dirk Diggler. Filling out the cast, per eonline.com, “Judy Greer will take over the role Amber Waves, a character previously held by her Carrie costar Julianne Moore. Mae Whitman will play Rollergirl, Kevin Pollak will be The Colonel, Jim Rash will take on Buck Swope, Jarod Einsohn will be Todd Parker and Jurnee Smollett will play Jessie St. Vincent.” Oddly, there is no mention of who will play Jack Horner, the part that should have won Burt Reynolds an Academy Award.
