FSC Calls for Production Moratorium After Performer Tests HIV+ - UPDATE

CANOGA PARK, Calif – After consulting with APHSS medical professionals, the Free Speech Coalition today is calling for a moratorium on adult film production due to a performer that has tested positive for HIV.  “We are following established protocols,” said FSC CEO Diane Duke, “for the protection of performers.”  The moratorium will continue until further notice; APHSS will update industry stakeholders about the moratorium as more information becomes available. APHSS is operated by FSC as a resource for the adult film production industry and to administer the protocols that uphold industry standards for health and safety. UPDATE Later in the day, FSC updated its original statement with the following clarification: “FSC is working hand-in-hand with the APHSS (Adult Production Health & Safety Services)-affiliated doctor to contact and treat performers for any possible exposure involving the primary patient,” said FSC CEO Diane Duke. “There is no indication of on-set transmission. Because of the rigorous APHSS protocols, the situation was accessed quickly and – most importantly – action was taken to ensure the protocols were followed. APHSS protocols for performer testing go well beyond what is typical for STI testing in the general population; our standards have been developed by industry stakeholders and medical experts, to provide an unprecedented system to uphold industry self-regulation and protect the welfare of our performers.” Additional confirmatory tests are being conducted for the performer in question. The production moratorium will continue until further notice. APHSS will update the story, as soon as any new information becomes available.
