Kelly Shibari Offers Social Media 101, 201 Instructionals for Swellcon 2013 |
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — 2013 Exxxotica BBW Female Performer of the Year and PR / Marketing consultant Kelly Shibari contributes two videos on the use of social media in the adult entertainment space for Swellcon, an ongoing, educational, video-based conference for the adult and sex education spaces. Swellcon, which launches today, is the brainchild of Minneapolis-based “truly feminist sex toy store,” The Smitten Kitten. “I’m honored to have been asked to present videos for the Swellcon collection,” says Shibari, who has spoken at both adult industry and mainstream conferences on the use of social media specific to the adult space since 2008. “I’d be surprised if there are viewers who aren’t familiar with social media on a truly basic level, but I do hope my tidbits will inspire sex educators, performers, and marketers in the 18-and-over arena to maximize their use of these free resources.” Social Media 101 and Social Media 201 cover the use of social media staples Twitter and Facebook in short, easy-to-understand videos. In the first, Shibari covers some very basic aspects and differences between the two social networks; in the second, she touches on some additional “dos and don’ts,” as well as covers the topic of how to deal with online drama and bullying. “Social media is quick, easy to use, and free,” adds Shibari. “With proper use, and understanding of how to deal with some of the more popular pitfalls, anyone can become a seasoned user of social media as a valuable part of an overall marketing strategy. I look forward to submitting additional videos to assist more seasoned social media users.” "I am so pleased to have Kelly Shibari as a contributor to the Swellcon collection,” says The Smitten Kitten owner Jennifer Pritchett. “Social media is an important aspect of connecting sex positive change makers and activists, one of the goals in the creation of this collection, and Kelly gives unique insight to this method of communication and marketing." Swellcon, The Smitten Kitten’s free ongoing video instructional collection, is the newest offering from the online and brick-and-mortar sex toy store. The store’s online site already has a sizeable fan base not only for their ethical, feminist, sex-positive approach to their retail offerings, but also for their free explicit sex educational videos. With videos ranging from five to 15 minutes, visitors 18 and over can watch instructional workshops with demonstrations about cunnilingus, fellatio, strap-on sex, dildos, masturbation, anal sex, sensation play, and more. Video instructionals offered as part of the Swellcon launch in addition to Kelly’s social media insights include How to Create a Comfy Environment on Set, by Jiz Lee and Shine Louise Houston, Senior Sex Out Loud, by Joan Price, Sex Positive Media, by Maggie Mayhem, 12 Principles of Sex-Positive Self-Publishing, by Allison Moon, The Sex Positive Revolution Will be Televised (on YouTube!), by Reid Mihalko, The Creation of Sexing the Transman by Buck Angel, and more, covering a wide range of topics relative to sex educators, production companies, marketers, writers, adult entertainers, and more. To view all videos, visit Swellcon.com. Pritchett continues, "Smitten Kitten has always been about more than retail; we are always seeking out new channels of sex positive culture making. Here, we believe in the power of community building through the sharing information. Our goal with Swellcon is to bridge geographical gaps and create connection points between sex positive change agents and future activists." Shibari is the owner of boutique PR and Marketing firm ThePRSMGroup. In addition, she is the Executive of Social and Media Relations for entertainment PR and Marketing juggernaut FineAssMarketing. The curvy Asian beauty is currently nominated for Best BBW Performer at the 21st Annual NightMoves Awards, held October 14 in Tampa, FL. The performer, director, and producer’s 2012 offering, Kelly Shibari Is Overloaded, is also nominated for Best BBW Release. The self-titled, self-produced, and self-marketed project was nominated for XBIZ and AVN awards, as well as a Feminist Porn Award, for the DVD as well as its marketing campaign.
